Since tomorrow is St Patty’s Day, I wanted to try a new recipe this year. I saw this Irish tea cake and decided to try it. It’s a simple butter cake recipe that is so easy to make and goes so well with coffee or tea. Erin go Brach!!!!!
1/2 cup butter softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 inch pan
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated, stir in the vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt, stir into the batter alternately with the milk. If the batter is too thick, a tablespoon or 2 of milk may be address. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool in a wire rack. Dust with confectioners sugar right before serving.
Korean face masks are all the rage right now. I had been reading so much about these various sheet masks and how great they are for your skin. My instagram friend @thingseyelove2013 sent me a bunch of masks and I have been loving them. I actually just finished using a “soothing” mask. The craze is getting so huge that Barneys just installed a Mask Bar featuring 30 different types of Korean face masks. I thought you might want to try some of these masks at home. The most authentic ones come directly from Korea so if you cannot get to there this week!! or the Barney’s Mask Bar, I’ve got you covered. Amazon is selling some of the best authentic Korean masks. I absolutely love THESE and THESE and I just ordered THESE. Happy Masking!!!!
You know the kind– the big, shiny sunglasses that will never go out of style. They are universally flattering, yet also mysterious. If you wear them in an airport, after a long flight, someone might ask you for your autograph!!!!
With these newest releases, Warby Parker has given a bevy of feminine acetate frames all the saturated color they deserve, with big tortoise shades and violet-tinted lenses. Other styles in the collection have gotten the same bigger-is-better treatment. They’ve punched up their flat-brow sunglasses for a retro 1970s look, and given some of them the layered treatment for additional panache.
Warby Parker has a variety of new frames for you that will make anyone feel fresh and revived, just like Spring flowers. I have highlighted some of the newer styles below. To “try on at home’ or for more information, click HERE.

Ok..so I know where I want to go for my next vacation….”The Doll House” on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. This absolutely incredible 200 year old landmark house is one of the most photographed homes in the Bahamas. It has been painstakingly restored and decorated in a colorful Island motif by a dear friend of mine from my Tiffany days. This charming cottage is located directly on the stunning bay of Harbor Island. Lucky for us it is available for vacation rental. Woo Hoo. For more information please contact Dunmore Realty.
I am so excited about this week’s Fashionable Friend Friday choice! It is the incredible Joan Juliet Buck, former Editor of French Vogue, ooh la la!!! I was lucky enough to be able to interview Joan, today, for my show. You can listen to the replay HERE. From the time that I spent speaking with her, I learned that Joan is such an accomplished woman. She is a writer, storyteller, sometimes actress and so much more. We discussed her memoir, her time with Vogue Paris, as Editor in Chief, and things she loves (and hates!!) in fashion. I have to say it has been one of my most favorite interviews. Joan is a fashion treasure and I am so fortunate to be able to introduce her to you!!! You MUST read her incredible memoir, The Price of Illusion…for more information or to purchase click HERE.
