Graze New York!!!!!!

Yesterday, I sampled the most amazing cheese board from Graze New York.  Graze was started by local mom Shari Ivler.  While raising her two young girls, Shari found herself entertaining a ton in her home.  She began making the most beautiful boards full of delicious treats to serve to her guests.  Shari decorates each board with little cards, flowers, and other special touches.  Each one is truly a work of art and uber delicious.  Everyone’s eyes lit up when they saw the board.  It was sooooooo GOOOD!!!!! Boards can be made for any occasion, from an intimate dinner party to a large family party. They make great gifts too!!!  Shari does it all. She is working on some special boards for Game Day and smaller ones for Valentine’s Day, so order now!!!!!!  Oh, and the best part is that you get to keep the gorgeous wooden serving board, which is fabulous!!!  I love mine!!! And cannot wait to get another!!!  Thanks Shari!!!!!!  To learn more about Graze and contact Shari and get your own Graze Board, click HERE.

Wellness Shot To Keep The Flu AWAY

I really do not get sick a lot (knock on wood).  But when I do feel something coming on, I have my methods to keep it at bay.  Last week, I was fighting the flu for 3 days and I quarantined myself so it would not get worse. Here is what helps me (but if you do think you have the flu please do see your doctor or go to the walk in)… I am a firm believer in lots of Purell all year round but especially in the winter (I keep it in my car) and I use it non stop.  Also I keep THESE adorable hand sanitizers in all my purses and my kids bags too!!  I take NyQuil before bed, use Zicam Swabs every 5 hours but I absolutely positively MUST run to Whole Foods and get ginger shots (2X per day) and pray they are not out….Luckly for me and YOU!!  I found this recipe for a homemade ginger shot that is just as good as the WF number.  Here is a quick and easy ginger shot recipe that will keep the winter colds and flu away!!!!  Stay Well Readers!!!!!

 adapted from Janded.com

  • 1 large lemon (or two medium lemons);
  • 2-3 tablespoons of honey;
  • 2-3 teaspoons of ginger depending on how spicy you like it (I use the Dorot frozen ginger cubes)
  • a good blender – THIS is the one I use (It’s awesome for smoothies as well..my girls use it daily)

  • 1. Squeeze the juice from the lemon (or lemons) into the blender, try not to get too much pulp.
    2. Add the honey
    3. Chop ginger roughly and add it to the blender as well.
    4. Mix everything for 30 seconds to one minute. Honey is quite thick and you want it to be well incorporated.
    5.  If you want it sweeter, add a little more honey.
    Here are the ginger cubes..you can get them in the freezer section of the grocery store!

    Life is a Cabaret

    I don’t really mention the jewel that is right in our own backyard, The Rye Arts Center.  I love stopping by to check out their amazingly curated exhibits.  I need to feature them more because we really are so lucky to have such an incredible local space available to us. The Rye Art Center has grown into the largest multi art center in our area.  The facility now includes an art gallery, art studios for children and adults, a preforming arts room, maker space, digital arts room, practice rooms and many more!!!!!  They also have incredible events like the one this Friday and Next Friday,  A Theater Cabaret, Everybody Knows I’m Guilty.  This cabaret concert by Leonard Cohen and Randy Newman is sure to be a HIT. I went last night to the rehearsal and I was blown away by the talent of the performers.  If you are in town, you NEED to go.  For more information or to buy tickets, click HERE;

    The Rye Arts Center and LawnChair Theatre are pleased to announce their first LawnChair Theatre Cabaret. Everybody Knows I’m Guilty is a cabaret concert of two of the master songwriters of our time, Leonard Cohen and Randy Newman.
    Newman and Cohen have each explored love, loss, religion, and politics, in finely-crafted songs that have the theatricality of short plays. In Everybody Knows I’m Guilty, Cohen’s spirituality and honesty and Newman’s skepticism and irony work together, as our company of performers present the best of these two musical poets.
    Peter Green, Artistic Director of LawnChair Theatre and Rye Middle School social worker, is partnering with Musical Director Kinny Landrum, a composer, arranger, producer, and keyboardist who has worked with such unusually diverse people as Leonard Bernstein, The Meters, Carly Simon, Jimmy Cliff, David Lynch, and Leonard Cohen. He was the synthesist on the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack of the seminal TV show Twin Peaks. He has scored a number of feature films and was nominated for his score to Living the Story: The Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky. Landrum also wrote the orchestrations for the Broadway show In My Life.
    Audiences will be delighted by the eight performers who remind us that the human voice is an instrument that can convey beauty while tapping into deep emotional truth. All were professionally trained as actors or singers.
    Wine and beer will be available for sale.  Please leave your lawnchairs at home.

    Book Club Monday

    Today’s selection was recommended to me because it is “sharply funny” and I’m sharing it because I think we could all use some comic relief!!!!!  HA!!!  Seven Days of Us: A Novel by Francesca Hornak is a New York Post required reading book, and that is enough for me!!!!!  Here is the story:

    It’s Christmas, and for the first time in years the entire Birch family will be under one roof. Even Emma and Andrew’s elder daughter—who is usually off saving the world—will be joining them at Weyfield Hall, their aging country estate. But Olivia, a doctor, is only coming home because she has to. Having just returned from treating an epidemic abroad, she’s been told she must stay in quarantine for a week…and so too should her family.

    For the next seven days, the Birches are locked down, cut off from the rest of humanity—and even decent Wi-Fi—and forced into each other’s orbits. Younger, unabashedly frivolous daughter Phoebe is fixated on her upcoming wedding, while Olivia deals with the culture shock of being immersed in first-world problems.

    As Andrew sequesters himself in his study writing scathing restaurant reviews and remembering his glory days as a war correspondent, Emma hides a secret that will turn the whole family upside down.

    In close proximity, not much can stay hidden for long, and as revelations and long-held tensions come to light, nothing is more shocking than the unexpected guest who’s about to arrive… – AMAZON.com
