“I get by with a little help from my friends”….this is my motto and this is why I picked this weeks Book Club Monday choice, Text Me When You Get Home: The Evolution and Triumph of Modern Female Friendship. This title really spoke to me so I decided to share it!!! Here is the summary:
“Text me when you get home.” After joyful nights out together, female friends say this to one another as a way of cementing their love. It’s about safety; but more than that, it’s about solidarity.
From Broad City to Big Little Lies to what women say about their own best friends, the stories we’re telling about female friendship have changed. What used to be written off as infighting between mean girls or disposable relationships that would be tossed as soon as a guy came along are no longer described like that. Now, we’re lifting up our female friendships to the same level as our other important relationships, saying they matter just as much as the bonds we have with our romantic partners, children, parents, or siblings.
Journalist Kayleen Schaefer relays her journey of modern female friendship: from being a competitive teenager to trying to be one of the guys in the workplace to ultimately awakening to the power of female friendship and the soulmates, girl squads, and chosen families that come with it.
Schaefer has put together a completely new sociological perspective on the way we see our friends today, one that includes interviews with dozens of other women across the country: historians, creators of the most iconic films and television shows about female friendship (and Galentine’s Day!), celebrities, authors, and other experts. The end result is a validation of female friendship that’s never existed before. – amazon.com

How incredibly beautiful is this back country home in Greenwich, Ct??!!!?? I love its stately stature and interior wood details from the reclaimed beams in the kitchen to the decorative moldings and doors and domed ceilings. The outdoor entertaining space is spectacular!!! And with a gym like that I would def be motivated to hit it!!!!! For more information on this uber home, contact Julie Burke.
This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is local photographer Holly Bonner. I have admired Holly’s work for years. She so so talented and I just love the vibe of her photos. They are simply gorgeous but also have a whimsical element that so many photographers omit from their lens. I am happy to announce that I am partnering with Holly throughout the rest of the year. I am going to highlight more of her incredible work, offer you coveted Summer/Beach and Holiday photos sessions AND maybe we can convince Holly to throw in a special or two for our AWESOME readers. I am so excited to share Holly’s talents with you!!!!! Stay tuned!!!!

Yesterday I heard 3 very impressive ladies speak about their company and their creativity….former Vogue Editors, Meredith Melling and Valerie Macaulay and Molly Howard, the former head of business at Rag and Bone. Basically these fashionistas believed in the universal, classic, forever chic, appeal of the stripe. So much so, they founded their company around this belief and thus around the stripe. Everything they feature on their site has a stripe from everyday essentials, to statement pieces for special occasions. And I have to say I am a believer. Check out their site and you too will fall in love with stripes!!!!
