Book Club Monday

I love the clothing designs of Zac Posen so when I heard he wrote a cookbook, Cooking With Zac: Recipes from Rustic to Refined, I had to check it out.  I have not featured a cook book in a while so I thought this would be the perfect choice for Book Club Monday!

Zac Posen takes you on a culinary journey through his life with 100 recipes every bit as decadent and inspiring as his designs.
Since he was a child, world-renowned fashion designer Zac Posen has been cultivating his passion for cooking. For Zac, cooking and fashion are both sensory experiences. Whether you’re planning a meal or a fashion line, the goal is to create a masterpiece. In Cooking with Zac, Posen shares a curated collection of the favorite recipes, gathered throughout his extraordinary life–from longstanding family favorites to flavors he’s discovered while traveling the globe.
When it comes to creating meals, Zac believes in a balance between healthy, fresh, local ingredients and exotic international dishes. In the same way that he breaks down barriers on the runway, he’s not afraid of taking risks in the kitchen: recipes range from delicate summer corn salads to beer can chicken to savory dashi-glazed lotus root. So put on your most stylish apron, and get cooking with Zac! – Amazon.com

Everyone Loves A Bargain

I have to say that after Christmas sales are the best….I love when things are discounted and then discounted on top of that!!!  As is the case for these amazing Missoni ponchos.  I absolutely love this look.  These ponchos look great with jeans and especially white jeans during the summer.  They are great for travel and overall make a great outfit.  Missoni is such a hot brand right now and these poncho are a steal with an additional 60% off at Saks Off Fifth.   This is the best deal I have seen in a long time…..With all the discounts they end up coming to $60-$80 for most styles shown below.  WHAT A STEAL!!!!!!!.  HERE is the link to all the Missoni ponchos…..looks for the ones that accept the code Staywarm!!!!

Book Club Monday

Happy Martin Luther King day!!!!  I have been trying to sit down all day to write this post but the day really got away from me.  I am so excited about today’s book club choice.  It has been on my list for a while and I am just getting around to reading it, The Last Mrs Parrish: A Novel by Liv Constantine.  I am telling you this is just what we need for these dreary, cold January days!!!!  It has been called spellbinding, Mr Riplyesque, and there is a shocking twist at the end!!!  Woo Hoo!!!!!   Here is the summary:

Amber Patterson is fed up. She’s tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more—a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.
To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne—a socialite and philanthropist—and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.
Amber’s envy could eat her alive . . . if she didn’t have a plan. Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family’s life—the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long, Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.  – Amazon.com

December Flowers!!!!!

One of my absolutely favorite things is to decorate our house for Christmas.  I have to admit I am much better at some parts than others.  For example, the outdoor decorating.  I really am challenged when it comes to making the front of my house look festive.  I have tried..I really have…garland, lit, unlit, wreaths on every window, light up deers flanking the front door.  I am just not good.  Luckily for me I called Megan McSherry!!!  She is so talented and she came over, swooped in and decorated my planters that are on either side of my front door and garage.  It took her no time at all and the finished result is beautiful.  I just need to add my wreaths and we are ready for Santa.  Megan is based in Bronxville, NY but she will travel to all neighboring towns and even into Connecticut to do YOUR garden pots.  I promise you, you are going to LOVE her work.  Here are some of my favorite designs that she has done.  Please contact Megan HERE.  She books up fast so I would email her sooner than later but she is very quick, efficient and VERY REASONABLE!!!!!  Bon Weekend!!!!

Come From Away

The next broadway show on my list is Come From Away.  I have heard that it is so good and a definite must see this season.  Here is the story in case you did not hear!!!!

Come From Away won the Tony for Best Direction in a Musical.  It tells the amazing story of how thousands of travelers were grounded in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in a tiny Canadian town and how they were heartwarmingly cared for.

On 9/11 38 planes with 6,579 passengers landed and were stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland.  The story tells of the camaraderie of how the townspeople opened their homes and hearts and hosted this international community of strangers, which basically doubled their population!
