Turks and Caicos

Last week I was lucky enough to travel to Turks and Caicos to visit Club Med coordinated by Cappy Devlin of CAPPY’S TRAVEL.   T&C is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world so, needless to say, I had always wanted to go there and dip my foot in the gorgeous turquoise water.  The sand is so white and pristine and conch shells can be found all over the beach.  Club Med, a french company, is an all inclusive resort so all you have to do is sit back, relax and let the GO’s (gentil organisateurs) take over and provide you with a fabulous time.  Below are some highlights of our trip.    Of course, I always have my readers on my mind so I brought back a souvenir for you, a one of a kind shell flower necklace.  All you have to do to enter this give a way is tell us in the comments below, what you consider the most wonderful get a away.  Good Luck!!!

John Robshaw

Last week my friend Meg and I went to the Home Boutique of Greenwich to meet textile designer John Robshaw.  I had seen his colorful prints before in magazines and blogs many times and was looking forward to meeting John in person.  He is such a friendly guy, who resembles Hugh Grant!!!  He explained his background and we talked about everything from mutual friends to his fabulous custom button down shirt, made from some extra block print fabric.  John started his career by attending Pratt and studying block printing in India.  He travels all over the  globe for inspiration for his textile designs.  You can see John Robshaw’s complete line on his website HERE.  He also has a fabulous design book John Robshaw Prints: Textiles, Block Prints, Global Inspiration and Interiors that can be purchased HERE.
We both purchased one of these colorful Ikat towels to use for picnics at the beach this summer!!!

Jack Rogers

Who does not love a pair of Jack Rogers sandals?  This year, the company is celebrating its 55th anniversary.  For 55 years women have been fans of this iconic sandal.  One of the company’s loyalist clients was none other that Jackie O herself.  She purchased her first pair in Capri in the 1960s.  She returned with the shoe to Palm Beach and had a local cobbler copy the design.. Viola Jack Rogers was born!!  I LOVE Jack Rogers.  I began wearing them a life time ago, when they were only available in Palm Beach.  My family traveled to Florida throughout the year and we spent Thanksgiving at the Breakers.  After the HUGE Thanksgiving feast we would walk around the gorgeous Breakers and the only store that was opened was an expensive Italian shoe store.  Low and behold, there in that shop were the coveted Jack Rogers sandals.  My grandfather insisted that we buy a pair to take home.  So that became our tradition, we would enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner at the Breakers and go sandal shopping afterwards!!!  This went on for quite a few years and WE LOVED IT!!!  There are going to be some very special 55th anniversary styles available after April 1st HERE.

Simply Eartha

Last night I was so lucky to be able to hear Kitt Shapiro, the only child of Eartha Kitt speak about her mother’s legacy and the special relationship that they shared.  Kitt opened her heart to us about some difficult issues Eartha experienced being light skinned and not really fitting into the “white or black” category.  She spoke about traveling on the road as a young child and finally the sad last few days of her mother’s life with Colon Cancer.  Kitt was straightforward, honest and very funny.  She started a lifestyle brand, Simply Eartha, to honor her mother legacy, based around words or sayings that Kitt was famous for.  She called these “Kittisms”.  You can learn more about Kitt and Earta and see her beautiful products HERE

I travel back and forth to Florida to visit my family many times throughout the year.  I especially love Palm Beach and its tropical glamour.  There is nothing like fabulous Worth Ave.  The Palm Beach style is in a league of its own.  One Kings Lane is currently doing a sale titled “Palm Beach Polish” for the next week.  Here is the link:
