Starring alongside the talented Helen J Shen, Criss will lead the cast of Maybe Happy Ending, a brand new romantic musical comedy that promises to be as thought-provoking as it is heartwarming. Set in a cozy one-room apartment on the fringes of Seoul, the story centers on Oliver, a Helperbot 3 who’s living out his days listening to jazz records and nurturing his favorite plant. His life, though serene, is shadowed by the sense of obsolescence that comes with being a robot considered past its prime. However, everything changes when Claire, a fellow Helperbot, enters his life, needing to borrow a simple charger. What begins as a seemingly mundane encounter soon evolves into a journey that takes both characters far beyond the routines of their mechanical existence, leading to a friendship that blossoms into a genuine, almost-human connection. The audience is taken on a captivating ride that explores love, companionship, and the little sparks that make any life—whether robotic or human—truly meaningful.

Winner of the Richard Rodgers Award, Maybe Happy Ending has already captured the hearts of many with its offbeat charm and emotionally resonant story. The show is directed by none other than Tony Award® winner Michael Arden, whose previous work (Parade, Once on This Island) has been praised for its innovative vision and deep emotional impact. Arden’s direction, combined with stunning scenic design by Dane Laffrey and the enchanting book, music, and lyrics by Will Aronson and Hue Park, makes this production one of the most anticipated musicals to hit Broadway.
