Weekend Real Estate Stalking

Today’s Weekend Real Estate Stalking is a gorgeous new construction by acclaimed Georgio Custom Builders.  This home is so cutting edge with all of its sophisticated amenities.  I absolutely love the use of the different marble in kitchen and bathrooms.  The Sun Room with all its windows is fabulous and I love the look of the majestic horseshoe driveway.   Lucky for us, the realtor, Liz Ross, is having a wine tasting this Wednesday (details below) in the home, so we can see it, in all its glory. in person!!!  See you there!!!

Fashionable Friend Friday

This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is Scarlett De Bease of SCARLETT IMAGE.  We first met a few years ago and I have been following her ever since.  Scarlett is an image consultant and she works with women to help them feel more confident by dressing them and styling them.  Here are some things you should know abut the amazing Scarlett:

  • I make creating your personal style and wardrobe fun and relaxing because I understand that many women actually DON’T enjoy shopping.
  • I am a bit quirky in my approach and make my clients comfortable and confident, even in their underwear.
  • I am not a fashionista and do not have a ‘perfect’ body so I don’t expect you to.
  • I get excited when my clients say “I would never have picked that for myself!” and they realize how amazing they look.
  • I never let my clients look like fashion victims, nor like everyone else in the room.
  • I am not a fan of trends and the styles I create are timeless and my clients never look outdated.
  • I would NEVER try to change a woman by putting her into clothes that make her physically or mentally uncomfortable.
  • I am not loyal to any particular brand or store, and I don’t receive commission for any items I suggest for clients.
  • I am a MASTER at creating a whole new wardrobe from clothes you already have in your closet – and for finding new looks at reasonable prices, if we do need to go shopping
  • In 2012 I was honored by Westchester Magazine with the title: “The Red Hot Image Maker” due to my transformational work with women.
I am so impressed by Scarlett and share here you tube videos from time to time.  Here is one of my all-time favorites from her YOU TUBE PAGE (which also has fabulous tips BTW!!!!!!)

Lastly, Scarlett has a great book, Stop Stressing About Dressing, check it out HERE.

BON WEEKEND!!!!!!

The Best Butternut Squash Soup

Today was probably one of the worst weather days I can remember in a long time.  It was freezing, it was sleeting and raining all day.  It actually was a perfect day to make soup and add some recipes to my winter cooking repertoire.  I received this recipe from nutrition counselor, Sarah Davis.  Sarah specializes in nutrition for adolescents and teens and, on many occasions, I have checked in with her for before and after school smoothies and snacks and quick weekday dinner ideas.  Since I have been on my soup kick, I asked Sarah for some of her easy, yummy, yet healthy recipes, to share with you.  The first thing she thought I had to try was her “Best Butternut Squash Soup”.   I have been receiving requests for a butternut squash soup, especially one that can be served to a crowd on Thanksgiving.  So, this sounded perfect.  I actually made this one today and it was sooooo easy and really delicious.  I think you will love it as much as we did.  If you would like more information about Sarah and her company Body Balance 365, click HERE or contact her directly at sarah@bodybalance365.com.  Bon Appetit!

Slipping Into The Cold Weather

Here in NY, we woke up to 30 degree weather!  I am not ready for the cold to start yet.  I need to gear up and a great place to start is with a cozy pair of slippers.  I hate the combo of cold floors and bare feet.  This year I am thinking of the cable knit ugg slippers.  However, all of these options are adorable and will keep you uber warm.  I especially love the cool faux Gucci Princetown slides.  The Gucci Princetown has become my favorite shoe. Its is iconic Gucci with a modern twist and soooooo comfy.  I am so happy that I was able to find the ones here for you.  They are such a great price for such a HUGE look.  They are perfect for lounging around the house or out and about with your favorite jeans.  Those are my must have pick for this post!!!!!  Stay Warm!!!!

Book Club Monday

We are gearing up for an “Autumn chill in the air” which will bring us a blustery week.  Maybe even some snow showers by the end of the week!!!   Here we go New Yorkers…..I think this calls for some comic relief!!!  This weeks’ book choice is Hungry Heart: Adventures in Life, Love and Writing by Jennifer Weiner.  Jennifer also wrote the story, In Her Shoes, which was made into the movie with Cameron Diaz!!!  The book description goes like this:

Jennifer Weiner is many things: a bestselling author, a Twitter phenomenon, and an “unlikely feminist enforcer” (The New Yorker).
She’s also a mom, a daughter and a sister, a former rower and current
clumsy yogini, a wife, a friend, and a reality-TV devotee. In her first
essay collection, she takes the raw stuff of her life and spins it into a
collection of tales of modern-day womanhood as uproariously funny and
moving as the best of Nora Ephron and Tina Fey. Born in Louisiana,
raised in Connecticut, educated at Princeton, Jennifer spent years
feeling like an outsider (“a Lane Bryant outtake in an Abercrombie &
Fitch world”) before finding her people in newsrooms, and her voice as a
novelist, activist, and New York Times columnist.

No
subject is off-limits in these intimate and honest stories: sex, weight,
envy, money, her mother’s coming out of the closet, her estranged
father’s death. From lonely adolescence to modern childbirth to hearing
her six-year-old daughter say the f-word—fat—for the first time, Jen
dives deep into the heart of female experience, with the wit and candor
that have endeared her to readers all over the world.

Hilarious and moving, Hungry Heart
is about yearning and fulfillment, loss and love, and a woman who
searched for her place in the world, and found it as a storyteller.
