Cutco

I was introduced to Cutco knives a few years ago.  I was not expecting much.  I was invited to a Cutco house party and bought a few things.  Little did I know that those would become the favorite tools in my kitchen.  I have the trimmer and the french knife, the spreader (which is amazing) and the peeler. They are as sharp today as the day I got them.  However, I had lost touch with Cutco, since they are sold via local representatives, until my son’s parents weekend.  I met the nicest boy at Providence College, Dillon Foley.  We started talking and he told me he sold cutco and he was one of the highest sales producer in the country.  Actually, Dillon sold so many Cutco items that he earned a scholarship to Providence College and is working towards another one!!!  Soooo I thought I would share Cutco and Dillon with you (he really is my Fashionable Friend Friday but I thought the title would embarass him!!!!!!!).  He put together this video for my readers and you can check the complete online catalogue HERE and email Dillon with any questions dilloncfoley@gmail.com.  Stay tuned there are going to be a few Cutco products in my Holiday Gift Guides coming soon!!!  Bon Weekend!

My Favorite Knife – The Trimmer

The Perfect Cheese Platter

As the holidays are slowing creeping nearer and nearer, I recently saw a segment on TV about creating the perfect cheese platter.  I thought I would do some research and share it with you.  The cheese platter is a staple for all holiday entertaining, actually just all year round entertaining.  I ususally just place the cheese on the serving tray with a knives or spreader and put it out for our guests.  But, now I see there is much more of an art to it.  Who Knew????

Tips for the Perfect Cheese Plater (adapted from aboutfood.com):

  1. Set the cheese out a half hour before eating to bring them up to room temperature.
  2. Ideally, put out a separate serving knife for each cheese.
  3. Arrange the cheese on the platter from softest to hardest with blue cheese (if you serve it) always at the end.  It has to do with seving the stongest tasting cheese last.
  1. As a rule of thumb, plan for each guest to eat 1-2 ounces of each cheese you serve. If you’re serving heavy garnishes (sliced meat, olives, fruit) or other food along with the cheese plate, this amount may be a bit less.
  2. Always have plenty of sliced bread and/or crackers on hand.
What You Need:
  • Three wedges of cheese
  • Serving platter or plate
  • Cheese knives
  • Fruit, olives, nuts or sliced meat for garnish
  • Sliced bread or crackers
  • Napkins

Setting the Thanksgiving Table

Since Thanksgving is a little more than 2 weeks away I am starting to think table-settings.  I love when people post their holiday tables on social media.  All of the color combinations and various decor styles are so inspiring.  This year I am leaning towards white and gold and a pop of color.  Here is a sampling some very beautiful Thanksgiving tables to start to get the ideas rolling!!  Happy Setting!  PS Don’t forget to share your’s this year, we are looking forward to seeing them all!!

More Weekend Real Estate Stalking

There is a gorgeous house on the market in Bronxvile that my real estate sponsor Leslie Corcoran sent to me this week.  It is a prestigeus tutor with incredible details.  I have such a love for tutors since my first house, where my children were born was the most adorable “A frame” story book tutor.  This home is much more elegant and I love the layout, the soaring ceiling and all the details original to this home.  You are in luck, there is an Open House today, Sunday, from 1:30-3:30, 24 Hemlock Rd, Bronxville NY.  For more information on this property, please contact Leslie.

Weekend Real Estate Stalking

I found the most adorable beach house in my favorite place, Southampton.  I immediately sent it to my sister and both of us are in love. I had to share it with you. I love the clean lines of this home. It is exactly what I would want my beach cottage to look like. The dining room, with its chinoserie chic, is fabulous. The kitchen is perfection. The little pool house is adorable. I am ready to bring my beach bag and move right in!!!!
