Book Club Monday

Today’s Book Club Monday’s choice is A Simple Favor by Darcy Bell.  I chose this book because it has been made into a movie starring Blake Lively, and Anna Kendrick, that will be released this Friday and I am dying to see it!!!  But first I want to read the book….Here is the summary:

A single mother’s life is turned upside down when her best friend vanishes in this chilling debut thriller in the vein of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train—now a major motion picture from Lionsgate starring Anna Kendrick, Blake Lively, and Henry Golding, and directed by Paul Feig

It starts with a simple favor—an ordinary kindness mothers do for one another. When glamorous Emily asks Stephanie to pick up her son after school, Stephanie happily says yes. Emily has a life that would make any woman jealous. She is the perfect mother with a dazzling career working for a famous fashion designer in Manhattan. Stephanie, a widow with a son in kindergarten, lonely in their Connecticut suburb, turns to her daily blog for connection and validation. Stephanie imagines Emily to be her new confidante and is shocked when Emily suddenly disappears without a trace, leaving her son and husband with no warning.
Stephanie knows something is terribly wrong. Unable to keep away from the grieving family, she soon finds herself entangled with Sean, Emily’s handsome, reticent British husband. But she can’t ignore the nagging feeling that he’s not being honest with her about Emily’s disappearance. Is Stephanie imagining things? How well did she really know her “best” friend?
Stephanie begins to see that nothing—not friendship, love, or even an ordinary favor—is as simple as it seems.

A Simple Favor exposes the dark underbelly of female friendship in this taut, unsettling, and completely absorbing story that holds you in its grip until the final page.

Trader Joe’s Favorites

I love when other bloggers and You Tubers post their Trader Joe’s hauls.  It’s so interesting to see what people choose.  I thought I would do my own Trader Joe’s favorite items post.  Some of these I have tried and loved and others I am planning to get on my next visit.  Since it is the weekend, I thought you might be motivated to stop by Trader Joe’s and try some of these favs!!!! Bon Weekend!!!

This is one of the most popular items at TJ’s.  Its a really good seasoning.  I like it with an english muffin and cream cheese or on avocado toast!

I have not tried this yet.  Every-time I go to TJ’s its sold out.  So it must be amazing right?

This is one of our family favorites.  I serve it over rice as a main meal or it can also be used as an appetizer served with toothpicks.

Everyone in our house loves these….
These are sooo delicious and they are small so a handful goes a long way!!!!!  They also go well with Hot Coco in the winter!!!  Someone brought them to us over the holidays and we have been hooked ever since.
This spread is also sooo popular.  It has crushed up gingerbread cookies in it.  It’s great on toast, ice cream, pancakes or just straight out of the jar.  My son LOVES it!!!
These are delicious…..

Also one of my favorite soups!!! I actually love all of the TJ’s soups.

This is another family favorite…everyone loves this rice.  I always keep some in my freezer.
We all went crazy over this pizza with a cauliflower crust.   It’s soo good.
I have not tried this yet but I always see it everyone’s carts and hauls, so next time I am bringing one home with me.

And probably one of the best things at TJ’s is the flower assortment.  I cannot leave without a couple of bouquets!!!

Neutral Decorating for Fall

With the fall season soon approaching, the internet has been filled with objects of orange and dark green, yellows and maroons; from pumpkins, to greenery to gourds.  I started thinking that since Christmas decorations can be neutral, why can’t fall decorating be the same.  I am working on my mantel this week and there is no orange in site…In the meanwhile, here are some examples of decorating for fall with neutrals!!!!
