A New Find…Hudson Babylon and Hudson NY.

Have you ever been to Hudson, NY? It has been on my wish list FOREVER. I read about this quaint, oh so popular, town with its many vintage and antique furniture stores, art galleries, restaurants, and cocktail bars. Enter my new friend, Hudson Babylon. Through the owner, Linda, I have learned so much about this unique area, only 120 miles from NYC. But most importantly, Linda has taught me so much about Vintage jewelry. She features the most wonderfully rare items, available to purchase through her INSTAGRAM. I am so impressed with the pieces that she curates. I am planning my own trip to Hudson soon but in the meanwhile, let me show you some of Linda’s beautiful jewelry.

I love these hearts…not only for Valentines day but heart earrings are all the rage these days…I love them with a cute blouse and jeans…

A Few Ways To Improve Your Health In the New Year…

Improving all areas of your physical health is incredibly important. From ensuring you’re consuming enough antioxidants and vitamins to help with your heart, brain and all your other major organs. You should consider certain therapies that can be offered at certain clinics, such as glutathione iv therapy. IV therapies are a great way to get nutrients into your body. Although a healthy lifestyle must work in conjunction with this.

What is healthy food?

When you want to eat healthy and adhere to a proper diet, you do not always know where to start. One reason is that the terms “healthy food” or “proper nutrition” have different meanings: one thinks it means not eating junk food, while the other thinks it means being vegan or eating only organic food.

Anyone who reads the health sections is often surprised to find that food that is considered unhealthy has suddenly become healthy following the publication of one study or another. In addition, there are several healthy dietary approaches, whose recommendations are not always compatible with each other. For example: low-carbohydrate diets that have been shown to be effective in weight loss and improving cardiovascular risk factors, compared to diets based on complex carbohydrates that have been shown to be similarly effective. So are carbs healthy or unhealthy? Coffee – to drink or not to drink?  Yes, in moderation of course. Coffee is good for the brain and also for your bowels, but do not over consume.

How do you build a menu that is all about proper nutrition?

There seems to be no single truth about proper nutrition, and as it has become clear in recent years different people are suitable for different diets. Proper and healthy nutrition consists of a set of several factors, each of which has its own unique contribution. It is impossible to change our diet overnight, changing eating habits should be slow but consistent. Each time it is worth deciding on a new change that you want to adopt and persevere with. Once the habit has become a part of life, you can move on to the next habit, and so you will continue to improve your diet until you feel that you have reached your healthy diet. Healthy eating is a very big and abstract concept, here are some ideas for turning the concept into small and practical steps. One per month in the new year.

1. Cook whole grains

Whole wheat pasta, whole rice, wild rice, whole couscous, whole bulgur, quinoa, buckwheat, millet – you should try them in different recipes and those who like to adopt instead of regular cereals.

2. Eat wholemeal bread

Whole wheat bread, rye bread, whole grain bread – plain bread or light bread. It is important to read the small print on the packaging and make sure the bread is made from 100% wholemeal flours.

3. Bake with wholemeal flour

You can choose between two options: The first is to pre-select recipes for breads, cakes, and cookies made from whole wheat flour. The second is the gradual approach, whereby you start by replacing 20 percent of the flour with wholemeal flour, and after practicing and loving move on.

Cosenza, NYC

I recently discovered a really unique handcrafted jewelry company called Cosenza, NYC. Through their limited edition collections, they really captured the beauty of the layering necklace trend, which is still going strong BTW. And, at a very good price point. The designs are inspired by the sparkling beaches and ancient castles of the town, Cosenza Italy, where the founders, Mia and Maria’s family was originally from.

Cosenza offers a curated collection of everyday jewelry wearable “from the beach to the castle.” Available at a friendly price point, you can layer and style these pieces with almost anything, and not have to worry about packing them in your suitcase.

You can shop the entire collection HERE and they also highlight for you the many ways that you can mix and match all of their styles and pieces.

Cooking with Cutco

I was first introduced to Cutco by a friend’s son years ago. I ordered a few things to support his business but I never expected to become a fan. I try to buy something from Cutco a couple of times a year. My husband swears they are the best knives we have in our kitchen. In fact he particularly loves the “trimmer”. In case you did not know about Cutco, they are all American made knives that come in 3 colors, classic black, pearl white and red. They are 100% GUARANTEED FOREVER: Forever Performance Guarantee, Forever Sharpness Guarantee. Every purchase comes with a 15 Day Unconditional Money Back Guarantee so you can try it out for 3 weeks risk free. All products are dishwasher safe and are made with an exclusive Double D Edge, which will stay shart for a minimum of 7 to 10 years.

Cutco also sells gift sets, like steak knives and awesome gadgets too

A friend’s daughter Caroline Neave is selling Cutco and has recently launched her business. She has great sales calls via Zoom and I loved hearing about all the new and most popular products from last year. You can contact here at cneave@stanford.edu.

Here are some of her best selling picks…..And don’t forget to scroll to the end for an awesome recipe from Cutco…..

I asked Caroline for one of Cutco’s best recipes and she shared this with us. I love Stuffed Peppers and never thought of making them with Orzo. I also love that Carolin shared what Cutco tools she used.

STUFFED PEPPERS WITH ORZO

Ingredients

Recipe:

  • 3 bell peppers, (one each of red, green and yellow) halved, seeded and stem removed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded rotisserie chicken
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 cup orzo
  • 1 (16-ounce) can chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons grated Pecorino Romano cheese

Topping:

  • 12 grape tomatoes, halved
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons fresh chopped basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375 F.
  2. Place the pepper halves on a baking sheet and using one tablespoon of olive oil, drizzle it on the inside of the pepper halves.
  3. Bake peppers for approximately 10 minutes, until tender.
  4. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan over medium heat, adding the onion and garlic. Cook until tender – approximately 3 minutes.
  5. Add the shredded chicken, black pepper and cumin and cook until the chicken is warm.
  6. Add the orzo and chicken broth to the pan, simmering until the orzo is cooked and the broth is absorbed – approximately 12 minutes.
  7. Spoon the chicken and orzo mixture into your bell pepper halves and sprinkle with your grated cheese.
  8. Bake in the oven at 375 F for approximately 5-7 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  9. Mix together the grape tomatoes, olive oil, basil and salt and pepper.
  10. Spoon the tomato mixture evenly over the top of your peppers and serve.
