The lace-up flats have recently caught my eye.  I really love this look and think it would be a smart move to add this look to my fall wardrobe.  I cannot decide which pair to choose.  They are all so chic looking.  Luckily for me I am having lunch with my very fashionable friend, Linie, soon and I know she will have some fab recommendations for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Until then I will virtually dream about owning a pair.

Book Club Monday

Since my reading stack is still sky high..I thought I would share two more incredible movies I saw recently, Aloha and Some Kind of Beautiful.

If you don’t already know, I LOVE LOVE Bradley Cooper.  I can watch his movies over and over, so I was so excited when Aloha became available for home viewing.   The storyline is that “a military contractor goes to Hawaii and reconnects with a lost love while falling for his Air Force watch dog”.  It is such a cute movie, you will not want to miss it.  You can watch it HERE.

Some Kind of Beautiful is another fab movie.  It stars Pierce Brosnan, Jessica Alba and Selma Hayek.  The story is complicated yet funny.  Brosnan is a successful professor who marries his student.  When she decides to leave him, he falls in love with her sister!!  Definitely check it out HERE.

Fashionable Friend Friday

This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is a mother-daughter duo.  I first met the mom, Susie, in book club when our kids were little.  Every time we got together, I was so impressed with her amazing style and joie de vivre.  The first time I met her, she was carrying a white Birkin…ENOUGH SAID!!!!   Susie has 2 girls and a boy just like me!!  Her oldest Schuyler, definitely inherited all the best qualities of her mom.  I just love all of their social media posts.  Following them is totally inspiring!!  Schuyler has a great tumbler, check it out HERE

Ingredients:

2 (8 ounce) filet mignon steaks
4 teaspoons Kosher salt
4 teaspoons freshly cracked pepper
8 tablespoons unsalted butter softened (1 stick divided)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
1 teaspoon lemon zest

Mix together 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) softened butter with the minced garlic, the chopped herbs, and the lemon zest.  Form into a log and refrigerate.

Generously season the filets with salt and pepper approx. 1 tsp of seasoning on each side.

Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees.

Heat the remanding 4 tablespoons of butter (1/2 stick) and the olive oil in a cast iron skillet to a very hot temperature.  Sear the filets in the hot pan for about 2-3 minutes per side until a nice brown crust forms.

While the steak is searing (do not move around the pan) continue to spoon the residual butter on the top of the meat, while it is cooking.  Once both sides are seared, carefully place the entire skillet with steak in the center, of the preheated over for about 6-8 minutes, depending on how thick your steak is.

In the last minute of cooking, take the log of butter and slice a thick piece to place on top; set aside.

The steak will be ready when it is approx. 135 degrees in the center or when you push lightly on the center of the steak and it gently and slowly pushes back.  Top with reserved butter.
