This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is a mother-daughter duo. I first met the mom, Susie, in book club when our kids were little. Every time we got together, I was so impressed with her amazing style and joie de vivre. The first time I met her, she was carrying a white Birkin…ENOUGH SAID!!!! Susie has 2 girls and a boy just like me!! Her oldest Schuyler, definitely inherited all the best qualities of her mom. I just love all of their social media posts. Following them is totally inspiring!! Schuyler has a great tumbler, check it out HERE
I saw this recipe on the web and it claimed to be the “Best steak you will ever eat””. This really peaked my interest and I had to share this with you. It sure sounds delicious!! Enjoy!!!
Ingredients:
2 (8 ounce) filet mignon steaks
4 teaspoons Kosher salt
4 teaspoons freshly cracked pepper
8 tablespoons unsalted butter softened (1 stick divided)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
1 tablespoon fresh thyme chopped
1 teaspoon lemon zest
Mix together 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) softened butter with the minced garlic, the chopped herbs, and the lemon zest. Form into a log and refrigerate.
Generously season the filets with salt and pepper approx. 1 tsp of seasoning on each side.
Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees.
Heat the remanding 4 tablespoons of butter (1/2 stick) and the olive oil in a cast iron skillet to a very hot temperature. Sear the filets in the hot pan for about 2-3 minutes per side until a nice brown crust forms.
While the steak is searing (do not move around the pan) continue to spoon the residual butter on the top of the meat, while it is cooking. Once both sides are seared, carefully place the entire skillet with steak in the center, of the preheated over for about 6-8 minutes, depending on how thick your steak is.
In the last minute of cooking, take the log of butter and slice a thick piece to place on top; set aside.
The steak will be ready when it is approx. 135 degrees in the center or when you push lightly on the center of the steak and it gently and slowly pushes back. Top with reserved butter.
This week’s Wish List Wednesday item is the Cotton Candy Grape. Yes, you read correctly, there are really grapes, that you can buy in your grocery store, that are all natural and taste like cotton candy. EXACTLY LIKE COTTON CANDY!!!!!! But, rather than their sticky carnival counterpart, they are a fresh fruit that you can snack on all day long!! These grapes are all the buzz from Good Morning America, to the Today show to Ryan Seacrest’s show. They are only available from August 10-September 20th, so don’t wait too long to try them!
And before we know it, our view will change to this!! Enjoy these last two weeks of summer!!!!
Since my reading pile has been growing, I thought I would take a break and tell you about two amazing movies I saw over my vacation on Amazon prime.
The first was Two Night Stand (R). The story is an “online hook up turns into a morning after disaster, when a paralyzing blizzard hits the city forcing two strangers to get to know each other far beyond the confines of a typical one-night stand”. You can watch this fun (a few inappropriate parts but overall cute) movie for $2.99 HERE

The second movie was Before We Go (PG-13). This is the story of “two strangers whose chance encounter in Grand Central Station sparks a nighttime adventure through New York City that will change their lives forever”. You can watch this wonderful movie before it hits theaters HERE.
