On July 14th a much anticipated book will be released, Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee. This is the second book for the To Kill A Mockingbird author. Supposedly this title was written first but was lost many years ago. Harper Lee was adamant that she never wanted to publish another book after To Kill a Mockingbird, which has sold over 30 million copies since its release in 1960. The story of this publication goes, that her sister, Alice, who recently died was in charge of all of Harper’s affairs. Mysteriously now, while, Harper Lee is in an assisted living home, her sister, her gatekeeper, no longer around, her manuscript was found and she wants to publish it after all these years. Fishy, right? Well the state of Alabama thought so too, and investigated. They concluded that indeed Harper Lee did want Go Set A Watchman published after all and there was no foul play!! Watchman takes place when Scout, the narrator of To Kill and Mockingbird is all grown up. The story this time is told in the third person and she is “forced to grabble with issues both personal and political as she tries to understand her father’s attitude towards society, and her own feelings about the place where she was born and spent her childhood”. With the summer in full swing, I find myself thinking of how to create a beautiful outdoor space. The patio has become an extension of the interior living area. There are so many items available to bring your inside decor outdoors. About a year ago, Meryl Streep sold her gorgeous Hollywood Hills home to A-Rod. The house, which was built in 1954, as an architecture research house was purchased by Ms. Streep in 2013. It displays the perfect merging of indoor and outdoor living. Bon Weekend!!
Today’s Fashionable Friend Friday is Lucy Sykes. I met Lucy and her husband Euan Rellie at a party recently. They were the most friendly, dynamic couple. They were just so gracious. Lucy is the co- author of this summer’s must read book, The Knock Off, an amusing story about fashion in the digital age. If you already don’t know, Lucy, she and her twin sister moved to NYC from London in 1997. She took the fashion world by storm, she is a stylist, fashion editor and fashion director. My last product was literally right under my nose for 3 years. Regiliously, I visit my Aesthetician, Julie of Skin NY Westchester. She is a miracle worker and has changed my life (but that is for another post!). I literally WILL NOT miss an appointment with her, so much so, that one day I was deathly ill and had her put on a face mask so she would not catch my germs. I had to make it through my session!!! About a month ago, she gave me a muti purpose skin cream called “Julie in a Jar”. You can use in on your face and on your body. It is wonderful. Very soothing and healing.
