The Affair

All last year, I kept getting recommendations to watch Showtime’s series The Affair.  I finally caught up on season 1 over the summer and now three episodes into season 2, I am addicted to the Golden Globe Best TV Series.  The story is of Noah and Allison and the affair they start during one summer in Montauk.  Both are married and their story is full of drama, tragety, love and pain.  The setting is amazing, especially if you spend the summers on the East End of Long Island, you will recognize many of the regualar spots.  I will warn you that it is at times racy, maybe too much for cable TV.  But, the story is worth it, especailly since the hour is broken down into Noah’s point of view and then Allison’s point of view.  Its really cool to watch how the same situtation can be perceived so differently by two people, down to what clothing each wore.  It makes you think of your own life and how you and the important people in it experience the same things, yet perceive them so differently.  Give The Affair, a try….Let me know what you think!!!

Weekend Real Estate Stalking

Charlize Theron’s LA home recently sold.  It is a beautiful penthouse loft that she purchased from former Beatle George Harrison.  It is rumored that this property inspired him to write the song “Blue Jay” since it is located on Blue Jay Way!!

Lemon, Chicken and Orzo Salad

A friend shared this recipe with me and it is next on my list to try.

From Cooking Light

Ingredients:
3/4 cup uncooked orzo
1/4 tsp. lemon zest
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
1/2 ts. kosher salt
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1/4 tsp honey
1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 cup shredded skinless, boneless rotisserie chicken breast
1/2 diced English cucumber
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1/2 cup thinly sliced scallions
1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
1/2 cup crumbled goat cheese

Cook orzo according to package directions (omit salt if it is called for).   Drain and rinse with cold water, drain and place in a large bowl.
In a small bowl, combine lemon zest and next 6 ingredients, stirring well with a whisk.  Drizzle the mixture over the cooked orzo and toss to coat.  Add chicken and next 4 ingredients: toss gently to combine.  Sprinkle with cheese.

Therese Raquin

Last night I saw Therese Raquin starring Keira Knightly and Judith Light at the iconic Studio 54.  The story is based upon the novel published in 1867 by french author Emile Zola.  It is a dark story of Therese, who is married to a selfish, sickly man and starts and torrid love affair with his best friend.  I really enjoyed the play.  I loved seeing Ms. Knightly in action doing what she does best,  playing characters of this time period.  I especially loved being in Studio 54 and imaging all the outlandish events that took place in that very room.  Therese Raquin is a limited engagement and will run until January 3rd, 2016.

Girl Friend Tip

If there is one thing you buy this fall, it should be a fur scarf.  Real or Faux, you can add it to any outfit to bring it to the next level.  Think, a little black dress with a fur scarf looks instantly chic.  How about a solid sweater and black pants?  A fur scarf finishes the outfit perfectly.  There is really no need to go out and buy a ton of new clothes for the season when you can simply buy a scarf to enchance what you already have.  From Marshalls to Neiman Marcus, solid colors to leaopard there are looks for every budget and style.   Which will you choose?
