Christmas Cards

I am sure many of you are starting to get your Christmas cards in order.  I have had my cards for a while now and I am going to start the process early in December.  It is a lot of work but so rewarding.  I love looking back at all the cards from past years, both the ones I have sent and the ones I have received.  I cannot wait to start getting all the Holiday mail and seeing all of the beautiful cards everyone chose this year.  Here are a few ideas that really caught my eye!!!!

Book Club Monday

This week’s book club Monday choice, The Heartfix, was a recommendation from Plum Sykes, uber Vogue fashionista and sister of my sweet friend Lucy Sykes.  She listed it as a must read so of course my interest was peaked!!  The author, Stella Grey writes a very popular column in the British newspaper, The Guardian, called Mid-life, Ex-Wife.  Here is the storyline of The Heartfix:

Mind-boggling, heart-rending and darkly comic, this is the full story for the first time, from the writer of the Guardian column Midlife Exwife….

When her husband fell in love with someone else, Stella Grey thought she’d be unhappy for the rest of her life. But then she realised that she needed to take her future in her own hands. She needed to meet someone wonderful, and find a heartfix for heartbreak.

So, she joined online dating sites and embarked on a mission. What followed were 693 days of encounters, on screen and in person: dates in cafs and over glasses of astringent red wine, short term relationships and awkward sex, but mostly there were phone calls and emails (many, many emails). Her journey was never dull, featuring marriage proposals, invitations to Tangier, badly timed food poisoning and much younger men but was it ultimately successful?

Totally compulsive, painfully true and darkly comic, this is an unputdownable account of one woman’s search for love online.  Summary AMAZON.COM

The Heartfix is only available in the UK which makes it such a fun,

unique gift for your girlfriends and yourself, as well.  You can

order it on amazon HERE.   Just click, the line: NEW FROM……

Are The Kids Home For Thanksgiving?

Many readers are in the same boat as my family.  One or Two children in college, about to come home for Thanksgiving break.  I received a few questions as to where to take the all the kids for dinner out over the next week.  Here is a round up of some great places.  A few I have been to and some I am dying to try!!  Welcome Home Kids!!!

THE RYE HOUSE, Port Chester, NY

A NYC Transplant that is a must for foodies!!  This place rocks!!  The food and drinks are not what you’d expect from a tavern.  The decor is comfy and social.  The menu is creative and the Duck Ruben is OMG!!!!!!!

Sign of the Whale, Stamford, Ct
I am told this is THE PLACE for Sunday Brunch because it has the best DIY Bloody Mary bar around!!  Not to mention their Whale Burger was voted the best in Connecticut!!!

BarBQ, Stamford, Ct
A huge cool bi-level space featuring country music, craft beer and a “real-deal” southern BBQ menu.  People have told me that they are addicted to their amazing meaty ribs!

Frank Pepe’s Pizza, Yonkers, NY
Are you ready for the “Best Pizza In America”?  Frank Pepe has been making pizzas in his coal oven since 1925. The result is their famous, must try delicious crisp, charred, chewy crust!

Weekend Real Estate Stalking

I absolutely love this week’s Weekend Real Estate stalking post!!  It is a true jewel box of a home right here in Rye.  One of my local readers contacted me and mentioned that she loves the real estate posts and her own home was going on the market.  She is an interior designer and once I saw her house, I knew I had to share it with you.  You are going to LOVE it just as much as I do.  The decor is impeccable.  It is updated to the point of being state of the art while remaining classic and elegant.  The artwork is beyond and the mix of modern and classic furniture is on point!!!!!  To see the entire listing, click HERE. If you are interested in contacting the owner/designer Anita Stein, here is her website https://anitahunterstein.com. Bon Weekend!!!!

Cranberry Champagne Cocktail

I love to serve a signature cocktail at our Thanksgiving celebration.  It’s always a hit.  This year I am dying to try the Cranberry Champagne Cocktail.  It is super easy to make and is sure to please your dinner crowd!! Cheers to the Weekend!!!!

Adapted from The Food Network

1 ounce cranberry juice (sweetened)
1 wedge lime
Persecco
Frozen cranberries

In a chilled champagne flute, add cranberry juice, 6 or 7 frozen cranberries, squeeze lime on top.  Top off with Persecco.

A Gold Thanksgiving Table

I think I finally have decided on my Thanksgiving table just in the nick of time…One week to go.  I am loving the idea of doing a gold and white table with Turkey accent plates.  The look is elegant but remains slightly rustic with the inclusion of the antler candlesticks, horn knives and magnolia leaves.  I also love the simplicity of the napkins with the holiday sentiments combined with the faux fur table runner.  AND, I always have to add a little feather touch, so these napkins rings are perfect.
