Middle of the Night Brownies

I found this recipe on a local blogger’s page, Mangia Michelle.  She doctors up a brownie mix to make brownies that you will dream about…so much so, that your cravings will wake you up in the middle of the night, to go grab another one!!!!  This recipe is perfect for our house, as my girls love to bake and bring treats into their classmates to share during advisory (similar to home room).  Happy Baking!!!!

adapted from Mangia Michelle Blog

1 box brownie mix (Duncan Hines Chewy Fudge Brownie works the best)
3/4 cup toffee bits (Heath bits o brickle toffee bits)
1 cup milk chocolate chips (melted)
2 tablespoons brewed coffee
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions
Prepare the brownies according to the directions on the box.  Choose the 2 egg option, for fudge-like brownies.

To the brownie mixing bowl, add the toffee bits, melted chocolate, coffee, vanilla.  Stir until combined.

Bake according to the directions on the box, but check the brownies at finished baking time (before removing from the over).  Insert a tooth pick into the brownies and if they are too wet, cook for an additional 10 minutes until the toothpick comes out clean.

Allow to cool well before cutting.  The brownies will be super fudgey and delicious!!!

Beauty Products I Cannot Live Without

I am always getting questions as to what beauty products I use and recommend.  I do like to try different things, especially once I read about them, but there are some items that I keep going back to and have become staples for me.  As far as makeup, I stick to Laura Mercier.  Hands down, it is the BEST makeup company and I have tried so many (Madonna would never steer us wrong, she has also been a long time customer!!!!).  Trust me go to a Laura Mercier counter and have them try some of the products on you…you will see!!!!  Below are some of the other favs that you will find in my bathroom and make up bag!  Enjoy!!!

Right before the holidays, I purchased this Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer.  I had been reading about how great it is and it’s always sold out at my Sephora so my curiosity was totally piqued.  I know it has a hefty price tag but boy is it worth it.  It dries your hair in about 30 secs with so much body and shine.  My 2 daughters and I are currently using it and all three of us are addicted.  I do not think there is a better hair dryer on the market.

The Beauty Counter Charcoal Cleansing Bar is hands down the best facial cleanser I have ever used.  It leaves your skin so clean and just feels amazing.  I have given this bar as gifts to all of my friends and family.  I have even cut my bar in half so friends can try it for themselves.

Another favorite of mine is the Beauty Counter Cleansing Balm.  I love this as well…You can use it two ways as a cleanser straight from the jar or as a night mask while you sleep.  It is such an amazing hydrator for your skin.

There are tons of teeth whitening products on the market that it is hard to choose.  After trying so many, I keep coming back to the Go Smile products.  They definitely work the best and the quickest.  I have gotten my mom addicted to this as well, it’s that good.

This Benefit They’re Real mascara makes your lashes thick and long.  Definitely one of the best mascaras I have tried yet.

Another of my favorites is the Yonique 3D Fiber Lash Mascara.  It is a two part process but you will swear you look like you just had false eyelashes applied.  I use this mascara for going out at night!!!

Tried and True Aqua Net.  You can buy every single hair spray at Sephora.  Trust me I almost have, and nothing will hold a candle to the AMAZING $3 can of Aqua Net.  I use it for volume, and to keep every strand it place.  Trust me, it will never disappoint.

This is the only hair brush you will ever buy.  Mason Pearson brushes last a lifetime.  They smooth and shine your hair.

Lastly, this is an item, my 3 children cannot live without.  These Clear and Go facial cleansing pads keep their skin clean, and blemish free.  My college age son goes through containers of these, they are so convenient and work so well.  To purchase them, please contact Skin NY-Westchester.

And……..it never ends…these are the products I will be trying out this week!!!  Stay Tuned!!!

Book Club Monday

Happy Martin Luther King Day!!!  I hope every one is enjoying this day, hopefully you are off!  It is a perfect day to start a new book.  I have a fun book for you to get you though this long dreary January.  Small Admissions by Amy Poeppel has been getting so much press from the NYT to People Magazine.  The story goes like this:

One admission can change your life…forever.

When ambitious grad student Kate Pearson’s handsome French “almost fiancé” ditches her, she definitely does not roll with the punches, despite the best efforts of family and friends. It seems that nothing will get Kate out of pajamas and back into the world.

Miraculously, one cringe-worthy job interview leads to a position in the admissions department at the revered Hudson Day School. Kate’s instantly thrown into a highly competitive and occasionally absurd culture, where she interviews all types of children: suitable, wildly unsuitable, charming, loathsome, ingratiating, or spoiled beyond all measure. And then there are the Park Avenue parents who refuse to take no for an answer.

As Kate begins to learn there’s no room for self-pity or nonsense during the height of admissions season or life itself, her sister and friends find themselves keeping secrets, dropping bombshells, and arguing with each other about how to keep Kate on her feet. Meanwhile, Kate seems to be doing very nicely, thank you, and is even beginning to find out that her broken heart is very much on the mend. Welcome to the world of Small Admissions.

I cannot wait to dig into this today!!!  For more information or to purchase this book, click HERE.

Weekend Real Estate Stalking

I am not much of Skier anymore but much more of an Apres Skier now!!!!!  I have come to hate, hate extreme weather conditions.  But I love the snow…I love the look of it…the feeling of sitting and watching it from the window….there is nothing more calming to me than watching a snow storm.  The dream of a ski house rarely crossed my mind…UNTIL…I saw Aerin Lauder’s gorgeous Aspen home a few years back.  Every winter, I think of that fabulous space.  When it started snowing this afternoon, I just knew where I wanted to take you……join me at Aerin’s!!!!!!
