Style Stalking…Dining Room Inspiration

After hosting Thanksgiving last year, I think our largest one yet (with just about 40 people for dinner).  I was cleaning my dining room and by some random chance of bad luck, my glass dining room table on lucite base smashed in a thousand pieces.  I was devastated.  I felt like I was starting from scratch all over again.  I had no idea what to do since the table was such a focal point of the room.

Choosing dining room furniture is actually quite hard! From the low table options made with real wood, to the chrome, steel and marble table options, finding the right suite takes some searching. Some people love Amish crafted dining furniture and others prefer to go with the ‘build it yourself’ IKEA options. Finding the right dining room inspiration is an absolute must, however!

I have worked with World’s Away on tons of projects over the years and I did know they had a dining room table that would work for me.  I ordered it that same day and embarked on a project to reinvent my dining room.  I had always wanted a metallic grasscloth paper in there, I just could not pull the trigger…BUT now I really had no excuse.  So I went to my inspiration dining room board on my Pinterest and went to work (I have included some of my favorite pins for you)…The wallpaper was put up the weekend that I went away with my book club group, back at the end of  January.  The table took a while to come in but it is finally here and perfect.  The room still needs a rug and I want to get a plant or two and maybe a gold Sputnik chandelier,  but it’s really coming together.  I took a quick shot before I ran out to pick up my daughter the other night…

And right now here is a peek at where we are….I think I am going to add some plants and I am still waiting on a rug…..

Book Club Monday

Sorry I am posting this soo late..I hope it goes out in time…..I just ordered the book, Daisy Jones and The Six..My book club is reading it this month.  I loved the story line and you know I love the name Daisy!!!!!  Here is the summary:

Everyone knows DAISY JONES & THE SIX, but nobody knows the reason behind their split at the absolute height of their popularity . . . until now.
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock ’n’ roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice. – amazon.com

It’s Better in the Bahamas

This past Spring Break we spent a few nights at the Cove in the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.  We worked with the amazing public relations department at the hotel and our entire trip was upgraded.  They had a driver pick us up at the airport, gave us VIP treatment and checked on us constantly during our days there.  I was so impressed with the service and the amenities at the Cove.  My sister flew in to meet me from Florida.  We really had a great time. We ate a Nobu a couple of nights (our fav back home) and tried out some of the Atlantis’s award wining other restaurants as well.  On our last night we went to Jean George’s Dune in the neighboring Ocean Club, which was so incredible.  The entire dining room turned into a disco at one point.  During the day we mostly sat by the pool or beach.  This time of year the weather was amazing.  The Atlantis has a gorgeous Spa.  If you booked prior to arriving they gave you 20% off any service and upon finishing your treatment they gave you a 25% off voucher for another appointment during your stay.  I have been to many spas and never received a deal that good!!!!  One day my sister, my daughter and I went into downtown Nassau to do some shopping.  We hit the straw market for souvenirs and some of the higher end shops, where everything was much less than the New York prices, and I do mean MUCH LESS!!!!  Also the shops at the Atlantis were really great too (with the same great pricing).  And they were opened late, so we would walk around after dinner.  The Casino was also fun.  My sister loves the Casino.  On the last night I joined her and even though we both lost, it still was a highlight of our trip!!  Here are some of the photos from our days in Paradise.  For all that the Atlantis has to offer and there is soooo much more (waterparks, swimming with the dolphins, kids camps) click HERE.  It really is Better In The Bahamas!!!!!
