I don’t really mention the jewel that is right in our own backyard, The Rye Arts Center. I love stopping by to check out their amazingly curated exhibits. I need to feature them more because we really are so lucky to have such an incredible local space available to us. The Rye Art Center has grown into the largest multi art center in our area. The facility now includes an art gallery, art studios for children and adults, a preforming arts room, maker space, digital arts room, practice rooms and many more!!!!! They also have incredible events like the one this Friday and Next Friday, A Theater Cabaret, Everybody Knows I’m Guilty. This cabaret concert by Leonard Cohen and Randy Newman is sure to be a HIT. I went last night to the rehearsal and I was blown away by the talent of the performers. If you are in town, you NEED to go. For more information or to buy tickets, click HERE;

Based on the 90s cult film, Cruel Intentions: The Musical pulls you into the manipulative world of Manhattan’s most dangerous liaisons: Sebastian Valmont and Kathryn Merteuil. Seduced by revenge and fueled by passion, the two diabolically charming step-siblings place a bet on whether or not Sebastian can deflower their incoming headmaster’s daughter, Annette Hargrove. As the two set out to destroy the innocent girl—and anyone who gets in their way—they find themselves entangled in a web of secrets, temptation, and the cruelest game of all: love.The show features songs from the film’s iconic soundtrack as well as some of your favorite throwback hits from artists such as NSYNC, Britney Spears No Doubt, Christina Aguilera and more! What’s more, this intoxicating new musical will be performed at Le Poisson Rouge, a cool downtown music and multimedia art cabaret venue in the heart of the West Village, where you can enjoy food and drink at tables with friends while indulging in this guilty pleasure!!
Today I went with a group of readers to see the “once in a lifetime” Michelangelo 6 room exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We hired curator, Emily McElwreath of of Sidel and McElwreath to give us a tour of the incredible pieces that depict Michelangelo as a supreme draftsman and designer. Emily explained to us that this show was 10 years in the making. All of the pieces are from 54 private collections throughout the US and Europe. They even needed approval from the Queen to show some of the featured works. Because of the age of the pieces, the exhibit is under dim lighting and after this all of the art will “rest’ in storage for 3 years. Most of these drawings and sculpture have never been on display. There is a reproduction of the Sistine Chapel, with the actual drawings of the images prior to them being painted. This was our favorite part of the tour. We stayed in the Chapel room wayyyy tooo long in awe of how amazing it was. The exhibition runs until, February 12th…run don’t walk!!!!! Maybe you will see me there because I am definitely going again!!!!!
Our next Theater outing will be to the Broadway revival of the Iconic musical, Carousel (which returns to Broadway after 2 decades!!!!!) on March 6th at 8:00. The tickets are in the Orchestra section and are $140 each. Email me nicolesteinthal@me.com to reserve your tickets!!!
This show comes to life starring Joshua Henry (Hamilton), Tony award nominee Jessie Muller (Beautiful, Waitress), and Renae Fleming in her first ever Broadway musical.
The reviews have been fabulous…

“One of America’s finest theatrical achievements.” – Richard L. Coe, The Washington Post
“The most glorious of the Rodgers & Hammerstein works. Nothing less than a masterpiece.” -Brooks Atkinson, The New York Times
“I shall remember it always.” – John Chapman, Daily News
I am always asked about Arthur Ave, Little Italy in the Bronx. Where to shop? Where to eat? When to go?. I do go there from time to time but I am in no way and expert on the area..so I knew I really needed to spend a day there to write this post. I asked my friend Sandra to come along and show me her favorite places. Sandra is an amazing cook and she knows all the best places. Here is what I learned…NOW I feel I am an expert on the area (well almost!!!!!) I am thinking we need to do a blog group shopping day before the holidays. Sandra and I went first thing on a Monday morning and there were no crowds, it was empty. I have also been on the weekend and parking is a little tougher and the stores are more crowded. I would definitely plan your trip during the week, if possible, especially since the holidays are approaching.
Last week I met this week’s Fashionable Friend Friday, Dr Gregory Brown, a Harvard trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Dr Brown believes that women look their best when they have the glow of healthy and youthful skin. This led him to merge his three dimensional understanding of the skin with Nobel Prize winning science to create his skin care line ReVive. ReVive is the only skin care line created by a plastic surgeon and it is INCREDIBLE. I was invited to the beautiful White Plains Neiman Marcus store to experience the ReVive facial for myself. I was so impressed with all of Dr. Brown’s products and was so delighted to be able to sit down with him and talk skin care. I swear my skin was glowing for days after the treatment. I am so happy to share the products with you….Bon Weekend!!
