Weekend Real Estate Stalking

This Weekend’s Real Estate Stalking is Taylor Swift’s house in Beverly Hills.  The house originally belonged to iconic film producer Samuel Goldwyn (see photos below).  Taylor purchased the property a year ago and has been in the process of extensive renovations to return the home to it’s exact condition, when it was first built in 1934, for the Goldwyn family.  She also recently applied to the Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission to have the property given Landmark status, because of it’s connection to Goldwyn.  It was just granted last week!!!!

Fashionable Friend Friday

Today’s Fashionable Friend Friday is Mary Tyler Moore.  She was my absolute favorite growing up.  I watched her Mary Richards religiously.  I wanted to work in the newsroom with Murray, Ted and Mr. Grant. I could not get enough of her, her landlady Phillis and her bestie Rhoda.  Back then we didn’t need a woman in the White House, we had Mary and she was our role model.  She had a great news job in the big city, lots of work friends, a groovy wardrobe and the coolest studio apartment.  Mary had spunk (per Mr. Grant) and we all wanted to be just like her, throw our hat in the air and take a nothing day and make it all seem worthwhile.  We will miss you Mary Tyler Moore, thank you for showing us how to stand up and be independent working women and to make it after all.

Protein Energy Bites

I recently found these bites at the Health Club that I belong to, CLAY.  As I have mentioned before they have the most amazing juice bar with many incredible nutritious menu options.  One of the staples are their protein bites, for after your workout.  They are so good.  I asked the chef, Sandra, who is soooooo talented by the way, for the recipe so I could share it with you.  These are so easy, no bake and high in protein and a total energy boost.  Yummmmm!!!!

1 cup dry oatmeal
2/3 cup coconut flakes
1/2 peanut butter
1/4 cup flax seed
1/4 chia seed
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup honey or agave
1 tsp vanilla extract

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.  Form into balls, using your hands.  Arrange on energy bites on a baking sheet, freeze until they set (about an hour).

Are You Ready For Restaurant Week

Yesterday kicked off Restaurant Week here in NYC.  I have a bunch of amazing restaurant posts coming up very soon but I could never EVER ignore this great time to be in the Big Apple.  Many of the best restaurants in the city are offering special three course pre fixe meals until February 10th.  Here are some of my new favorites and if you are lucky enough to get a reservation during this time, GO FOR IT.  Bon Appetit!!!!!

A few weeks ago, I went to Keith McNally’s new restaurant, Augustine.  If you love Balthazar, than you are going to love this.  As soon as you walk through the door, you will feel that you are transported to Paris.  It is truly amazing.  And, the food is incredible.

Another fabulous new eatery in the city is Le Cou Cou, Chef Daniel Rose’s amazing french restaurant on Lafayette St.   I posted on this restaurant back in September and have been back since and loved it just as much the second time around.  This is definitely a must visit and not to mention the #1 restaurant in New York right now!!!  PS I saw Ivanka Trump there having dinner with her husband (if you are interested in that type of news!!!)

Chinese Tuxedo is the chicest, most delicious restaurant in China Town.  The owners wanted to modernize the neighborhood and give their diners not just food but a true dining experience, like you would find if eating in actual China.  The overall experience is incredible, trust me.

You Have To See These Earrings

About a year ago, a really cool pair of earrings came on the scene.  The design was four large hanging silk orbs.  They were all over instagram worn by fashionistas all around the globe.  I always admired this look but never thought they were for me, until one of my sponsors gave me a pair.  OMG!!!  Was I hooked.  I absolutely love them and even though they look heavy, they are so light and easy to wear.  I actually was able to partner with a close personal friend and representative of Kenneth Jay Lane to bring you these earrings at an amazing price of $88 (clip or pierced).  Here are all the colors that are available….if you are interested in a pair or have any questions, please email me at nicolesteinthal@me.com.

Book Club Monday

Are you ready for the must read book for the winter?  The Futures by Anna Pitoniak is feted as “the next great New York novel and an emotional page turner”.  Here is the story line:

Julia and Evan fall in love as undergraduates at Yale. For Evan, a scholarship student from a rural Canadian town, Yale is a whole new world, and Julia–blond, beautiful, and rich–fits perfectly into the future he’s envisioned for himself. After graduation, and on the eve of the great financial meltdown of 2008, they move together to New York City, where Evan lands a job at a hedge fund. But Julia, whose privileged upbringing grants her an easy but wholly unsatisfying job with a nonprofit, feels increasingly shut out of Evan’s secretive world.

With the market crashing and banks failing, Evan becomes involved in a high-stakes deal at work–a deal that, despite the assurances of his Machiavellian boss, begins to seem more than slightly suspicious. Meanwhile, Julia reconnects with someone from her past who offers a glimpse of a different kind of live. As the economy craters, and as Evan and Julia spin into their separate orbits, they each find that they are capable of much more–good and bad–than they’d ever imagined. REVIEW AMAZON.COM
