The Affair Is Back!!!! Season 5

Do you watch the Affair?  I do and I love it. Season 5 began last night.  From the beginning of this show, what I found the most fascinating was the differences in telling the same story from 2 different peoples point of view.  If you are not familiar with the affair, the first half is the week’s story from one person’s perspective and the second half is the exact story from another character’s perspective.  Sooooooo….Back to Season 5.  Which is actually the last season in the series..so much is happening (SPOILER ALERT)

We no longer have Allyson.
We no longer have Vik.
We really do not know what happened to Cole. Or Louisa for that matter…
We meet an adult Joanne.
We learn that Whitney is getting married.
Helen will have a new love interest, oh and her parents are back…

I read that there is going to be 11 episodes for us to enjoy..I cannot wait!!!  In the meanwhile, here are some pics from the upcoming season!!!

Bon Appetit’s Ultimate Lobster Rolls

What is summer with out a Lobster Roll…I recently made these Bon Appetit Ultimate Lobster Rolls for a friend’s bbq and everyone said they were the BEST they have ever tasted.  FUN TIP:  I actually ended up making minis as an appetizer and cut the rolls in half.  YUMMMM ENJOY!!!!!

INGREDIENTS

  • Kosher salt
  • 3 1 1/4-pound live lobsters
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
  • 2–3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 New England–style split-top hot dog buns
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature

RECIPE PREPARATION

Pour water into a large pot to a depth of 1 inch; bring to a boil and salt generously. Add lobsters, cover, and cook until bright red, 8–10 minutes. Transfer lobsters to a rimmed baking sheet and let cool.

  • Crack lobster shells, pick meat from tail and claws, and cut into 1/2-inch pieces. Mix lobster, celery, lemon juice, chives, and 2 tablespoons mayonnaise in a medium bowl; season with salt and pepper and add more mayonnaise, if desired.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Spread flat sides of buns with butter. Cook until golden, about 2 minutes per side; fill with lobster mixture.

Scenes From Southampton

UGGGGGGGHHHHHH This summer has really been a challenge.  Life has thrown us some curve balls and its been really hard to focus.  Yesterday we lost our sweet, beloved pug Rosie.  She was such a sweet girl and kept us so happy for 13years.  We will miss her everyday.  She brought us so much joy!!!

On a happier note, I spent a few days in Southampton, our happy place, with my sister, when she was visiting.  My parents arrived last Saturday night and we are hoping to get out again once before labor day (fingers crossed!!!!).  I had to share some of my favorite photos from this year with you.  I hope they brighten up your day as much as they did mine!!!

Book Club Monday

We are going to lighten up things this week and post a really fun beach read….Carnegie Hill: A Novel is just what we need after 2 weeks of on the edge of your seat thrillers!!!!!  Here is the story:

“Carnegie Hill has got to be one of the most charming, hilarious, and insightful books I’ve read in ages. When it comes to New York’s (often befuddled) elite, Vatner has an eagle eye for detail, and an ear for whip-smart dialogue. This is an assured, heartfelt debut.” –Grant Ginder, author of The People We Hate at the Wedding and Honestly, We Meant Well
Deception is just another day in the lives of the Upper East Side’s elite.
At age thirty-three, Penelope “Pepper” Bradford has no career, no passion and no children. Her intrusive parents still treat her like a child. Moving into the Chelmsford Arms with her fiancé Rick, an up-and-coming financier, and joining the co-op board give her some control over her life―until her parents take a gut dislike to Rick and urge Pepper to call off the wedding. When, the week before the wedding, she glimpses a trail of desperate text messages from Rick’s obsessed female client, Pepper realizes that her parents might be right.
She looks to her older neighbors in the building to help decide whether to stay with Rick, not realizing that their marriages are in crisis, too. Birdie and George’s bond frays after George is forced into retirement at sixty-two. And Francis alienates Carol, his wife of fifty years, and everyone else he knows, after being diagnosed with an inoperable heart condition. To her surprise, Pepper’s best model for love may be a clandestine gay romance between Caleb and Sergei, a black porter and a Russian doorman. -Amazon

Marissa Tomei on Broadway…The Rose Tattoo

Our December show(!!!!), can you believe we are planning for December???!, is going to be The Rose Tattoo with Marisa Tomei.  I LOVE Marisa Tomei…She is so awesome and honestly who can forget Lisa in My Cousin Vinny.  We have a group of tickets on Tuesday, December 3rd, in the orchestra for $110.  EMAIL me to save your spot!!!

This is one Tennessee Williams woman you won’t soon forget.

Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei unleashes a tour de force as Serafina, a widow who rekindles her desire for love, lust and life in the arms of a fiery suitor. Sharply directed by Trip Cullman (Significant Other), Williams’s lesser-known gem sizzles with humor and heart one sultry summer off the coast of Louisiana.
Don’t miss Tomei’s quintessential performance—erupting from the depths of despair to the heights of passion in this Tony Award-winning Best Play.
