I recently visited the New Dry Bar, the nationwide blow dry bar founded by hair stylist, All Webb, in White Plains. I had been to the Dry Bar in the city so when I saw they opened close to home, I was ecstatic. I met the Owner, Rye resident, Colleen Margiloff and we set a date for me to come in and see all that her location had to offer. WOW was I blown away (no pun intended!!!!!). The blow out was one of the best I have ever had, complete with fun movies and mimosas. Colleen gave me tips to help prolong my style, way after I left her salon. The Blow Dry products were incredible as well. I walked out with a bunch of amazing things to try and a few gift certificates so that my friends could go back for their own fab Dry Bar experience. With fur embellished shoes being all the rage (thank you Gucci!!!!!), you cannot imagine how excited I was when the company fOOfOO slippers contacted me about being a blog sponsor. fOOfOO was started by two brothers in England. They have each pair made by Portuguese Artisans in a family run workshop and are finished personally back in their own workshop in the UK. Don’t let the name fool you, these “slippers” are so glamorous and meant to be seen outside of the house. I love the way they are styled below. They look so adorable with white jeans for the summer and a cute top or with an adorable printed summer dress. fOOfOOs come with real and faux fur and vegan options!. All are equally gorgeous. You can also mix and match the base and fur colors. You have to check out their website for more info and options http://foofooslippers.com. We are offering a 10% discount on all orders with the code foofoonicstein10.
The Met Ball has always been a night of Haute Couture. It is the coming together of the the who’s who’s in the arts, fashion, high society, music, and film. This gala marks the opening of the Costume Institutes fashion exhibit at the Met. It is safe to say that this invitation is one of the most coveted in New York!!! The event is always the first Monday in May and this year’s theme is Rei Kawakubo/Comme De Garcons: Art Of The In-Between. So what is it like in New York that night? I was so lucky to be able to take you behind the scenes, with some of the attendees, as they were heading to the Ball. The one thing that impressed me the most were the beautiful gowns and headdresses. I have to say everything about the night was so incredible. Everyone was so friendly and each one looked more fabulous than the next. But, the highlight, since I am such a HUGE Vogue fan, for me, was meeting uber-photographer Mario Testino….so here are scenes from the Night I Went To the Met Gala (well sort of!!!!!!!!!!!).

Today’s Book Club Monday post is an incredible psychological thriller called Border Crossing:A Novel by Pat Barker. I thought we needed to shake things up a bit!!!! Here is the story:
This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is Greenwich native Jackie Mendive of the incredible company Empanadas On The Go. Jackie, originally from Argentina, is locally famous for her artisanal empanadas. Once the word got out, friends started texting constantly for her delicious handmade treats. Jackie’s children’s friends would come over for playdates if empanadas were being served!!! Finally, Jackie decided it was time to expand and as of January, she is cooking a few times a week in a commercial kitchen, to meet the demand of orders. I met up with Jackie in her kitchen and picked up my own “Jackie-on-the Go” order. I was completely speechless when I saw how beautifully made they were. They are truly a work of art!! I followed Jackie’s cooking instructions and WOW….they tasted as fabulous as they looked. But not only is Jackie an amazing cook, she is all about giving back. Two of every dozen empanadas ordered benefit Conin Pilar, an Argentinian charity that fights malnutrition in infants.
So far the most popular empanadas are chicken, steak or ground beef and ham & cheese. There is a kid’s empanada, a beef, and onion version made with mild spices, also very popular and popping up in lunch boxes all around town. Jackie recommends keeping your freezer stocked with empanadas because all you need for the perfect impromptu party are “an empanada and wine”.
