Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-Winning American classic To Kill a Mockingbird comes to Broadway in a new adaptation by Aaron Sorkin, directed by Bartlett Sher, starring Emmy Award-winner Jeff Daniels.

Inspired by Lee’s own childhood in Alabama, To Kill a Mockingbird features one of literature’s towering symbols of integrity and righteousness in the character of Atticus Finch, based on Lee’s own father. The character of Scout, based on herself, has come to define youthful innocence – and its inevitable loss – for generation after generation of readers around the world.

Published in 1960, Harper Lee’s debut novel To Kill a Mockingbird was an immediate and astonishing success. It won the Pulitzer Prize and quickly became a global phenomenon, with more than 50 million copies in print to date. Considered one of the great classics of modern American literature, the novel has never been out of print since its original publication.

Tomorrow Night on The Perfect Murder

I have posted about my BC actor friend Peter Maddocks before. I just found out that he is going to be on the show A Perfect Murder tomorrow night 9/20 in an episode called “Jump Shot”.  The story is of Hollywood “golden boy” Gavin Smith – “a 20th century fox executive and former UCLA Basketball player who disappears one night in 2012. His family and detectives search tirelessly for clues but a group of selfish and heartless characters hold steadfast onto their secrets.”  This sounds SOOO GOOD.  I cannot wait.  The episode airs on the USA network (check your local listings) at 9:00 pm.

Book Club Monday

Today’s Book Club Monday choice is Whiskey in a Teacup: What Growing Up In The South Taught Me About Love, Life and Making Biscuits by Reese Witherspoon.  A friend of mine who is also a blogger emailed me this weekend that it is a MUST read.  Here is the summary:

Academy Award–winning actress, producer, and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon invites you into her world, where she infuses the southern style, parties, and traditions she loves with contemporary flair and charm.

Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said that a combination of beauty and strength made southern women “whiskey in a teacup.” We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside we’re strong and fiery.

Reese’s southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken. It’s reflected in how she entertains, decorates her home, and makes holidays special for her kids—not to mention how she talks, dances, and does her hair (in these pages, you will learn Reese’s fail-proof, only slightly insane hot-roller technique). Reese loves sharing Dorothea’s most delicious recipes as well as her favorite southern traditions, from midnight barn parties to backyard bridal showers, magical Christmas mornings to rollicking honky-tonks.

It’s easy to bring a little bit of Reese’s world into your home, no matter where you live. After all, there’s a southern side to every place in the world, right? – Amazon.com

Weekend Real Estate Stalking

With summer now a distant memory, a bunch of gorgeous real estate listings have been coming across my email.  This week’s Real Estate Stalking pick stopped me in my tracks.  This Greenwich, Ct home is simply marvelous.  It is a turn of the century carriage house which has been updated to it’s 6700 square foot splendor.  I just love the look this home and love the history of its 1915 origins.  For more information or to arrange a showing, contact Julie Burke.

Fashionable Friend Friday

This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is one of my favorite instagrammers, Margie Cooper of Thrift and Tell.  Everyday, Margie posts fabulous designer finds
that she searches the internet for.
Since she cannot buy everything for herself she happily shares them with her followers.  Over the past few months, I’ve seen Margie post Gucci, Chanel, Cartier, YSL and so many more amazing treasures at prices that you would not believe.  You really need to follow her.  Before you do here is Maggie account of how she started her Thrifty Site!!!!  Bon Weekend!!!

I have always loved fashion and hunting for deals.
I started Thrift and Tell by accident really! I woke up
one morning with “Thrift and Tell’ in my head and
checked to see if the username was already taken.
Thankfully it was not and thus began Thrift and Tell.
I really did not do anything with it until the fall of 2018,
when a friend convinced me to start posting content.
Since then, it’s been such a fun process
of getting to know others who are just as passionate
about fashion at every price point. I post my weekly
finds in my feed and some tips I have learned along
the way after years of shopping. I also love hunting and
since I cannot possibly buy all the good deals I find,
I post those on my stories daily. It has become a fun
thing for my followers, with many saying that they can’t
stop checking to see if I’ve posted more deals. I really
get a kick out of others finding treasures via my stories
and sharing the T&T love.
In addition to loving finding great deals, I also love
cleaning out my closet and selling my clothes.
My favorite sites to sell on right now are Poshmark
and Tradesy. I know a lot of people who have found
great success selling through The RealReal, but I
have not yet tried them for consigning.
I am a HUGE shopper on The Real Real however. I find
their descriptions to be accurate and of the hundreds of
things I’ve bought over the last 5 years they’ve all been
authentic.
My whole philosophy on shopping is that you should
wear what you love, whether it’s “in style” or not.
I don’t believe in buying a bunch of clothes just for
the sake of a full closet. Instead, I love to mix highs
and lows and choosing silhouettes that will stand the
test of time. Rather than buying a bunch of J.Crew or
Rebecca Minkoff bags,
I recommend saving up for your dream Chanel
bag (purchased second hand of course!).
At the same time, if there is a trend (like the skinny
sunglasses) that you really want to try out, there
are great options at Target, Zara and other high-street
brands to fill that need!
Overall- whatever you’re wearing- whether
Chanel, Zara or Target- you should always
feel your best
and get the best possible price!
