Fashionable Friend Friday

This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is Steven Stolman.  Last night I went to a book signing for his incredible book Confessions of a Serial Entertainer, at one of my favorite store Jonathan Adler.  This book is chock full of recipes, hostess tips, and fun stories of cocktail and dinner parties.  Steven Stolman loves to entertain and has so many great tips for his readers.  Mr. Stolman graciously agreed to be on my radio show.  Stay tuned!!!!  We cannot wait to hear all his secrets for holiday celebrations!

Lemon, Chicken and Orzo Salad

A friend shared this recipe with me and it is next on my list to try.

From Cooking Light

Ingredients:
3/4 cup uncooked orzo
1/4 tsp. lemon zest
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
1/2 ts. kosher salt
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1/4 tsp honey
1/8 tsp freshly ground black pepper
1 cup shredded skinless, boneless rotisserie chicken breast
1/2 diced English cucumber
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1/2 cup thinly sliced scallions
1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
1/2 cup crumbled goat cheese

Cook orzo according to package directions (omit salt if it is called for).   Drain and rinse with cold water, drain and place in a large bowl.
In a small bowl, combine lemon zest and next 6 ingredients, stirring well with a whisk.  Drizzle the mixture over the cooked orzo and toss to coat.  Add chicken and next 4 ingredients: toss gently to combine.  Sprinkle with cheese.

Therese Raquin

Last night I saw Therese Raquin starring Keira Knightly and Judith Light at the iconic Studio 54.  The story is based upon the novel published in 1867 by french author Emile Zola.  It is a dark story of Therese, who is married to a selfish, sickly man and starts and torrid love affair with his best friend.  I really enjoyed the play.  I loved seeing Ms. Knightly in action doing what she does best,  playing characters of this time period.  I especially loved being in Studio 54 and imaging all the outlandish events that took place in that very room.  Therese Raquin is a limited engagement and will run until January 3rd, 2016.

Girl Friend Tip

If there is one thing you buy this fall, it should be a fur scarf.  Real or Faux, you can add it to any outfit to bring it to the next level.  Think, a little black dress with a fur scarf looks instantly chic.  How about a solid sweater and black pants?  A fur scarf finishes the outfit perfectly.  There is really no need to go out and buy a ton of new clothes for the season when you can simply buy a scarf to enchance what you already have.  From Marshalls to Neiman Marcus, solid colors to leaopard there are looks for every budget and style.   Which will you choose?

Fall Foliage

The peak fall foliage season is about to start.  The most vibrant colors of leaves are from October 17th to October 24t, here in New York and Connecticut.  Now is the time to get out and enjoy these magnificent fall weekends.  We are so lucky to have the change of seasons in the North East.  It is one of the many perks of living in this part of the country.  I see that many of our readers have already been enjoying all that autumn has to offer.  Happy Fall!!

Saturday Real Estate Stalking

This 20’s medieval style tutor on the Hudson in the Palisades section of NY just sold.  Literally buffs, listen up, this was home to Orsen Wells and John Steinbeck in the 1940’s.  And was later lived in by Lawrence Olivier and then Vivian Leigh.  The “House in the Woods” became knows as a secret celebrity haven.   This was the first time the house has been on the market in 40 + years!
