Fashionable Friend Friday

This week’s Fashionable Friend Friday is Pam and Pat of the Beloved Bath, a company they started with their autistic sons.  The ladies found that the boys enjoyed making the bath mixtures with their moms.  They found themselves calm, centered and happy after a soak.  Each item they made is filled with their spirit, energy and and love.  Their products are heavenly.  I love the pink Hymalayn bath salt, and the bath bombs.  But I am still trying all the products so stay tuned!!  What’s even better is that a proceed of each sale goes to autism education, specifically for vocation training.  How great is that?  Check out the Beloved Bath site HERE.  Bon Weekend!!!!!

Frank Sinatra’s Fettuccini

The weather here in the North East is so terrible.  It is hailing, raining and thundering!  I think I just saw lightening!!!!!!  Yikes!!!!  I thought it time for some real comfort food.  I came across this recipe a few weeks ago and tried it.  My family flipped over it…you have to try.   The story goes that Frank was a incredibly accomplished cook.  He favored dishes from Italy and he lived by the mantra that a gentleman should be able to make a good meal for himself and his lady.  Bon Appetit!!!!!

1 8 oz package of fettuccini
1/4 cup buter
1/2 whipping cream
1/4 cup plus 2 tbs grated Parmesan cheese
salt and black pepper

Cook fettuccini until it is al dente.  Drain pasta.  While pasta is cooking, make sauce by melting butter in a saucepan on low heat.  Remove butter from heat; blend cream and cheese into it.  Return to heat and simmer thoroughly, season with salt and pepper.  Careful not to let the sauce come to a boil.  Add the sauce to the pasta and let stand, covered, for a couple of minutes.  Garnish with parsley.  Serve.

San Fran Recap

Last weekend we went to San Francisco.  My daughter was on a school exchange there, so my sister and I decided to do a girl’s weekend, to fetch her, from her amazing host family.  We had such a great time, though I think I wore everyone out with my list of things we HAD to do!!!!!!!!  Here are some highlights from a great long weekend on the opposite coast!!!!

There was a cable car stop right outside our hotel!!  I loved seeing them running all day!!!!

We were so confused at Starbucks!!!!!!!

Our hotel was so beautiful…It is a SF landmark The Sir Francis Drake…..

How beyond were the outfits of our doormen?  I got the biggest kick out of them…I had to share!!!!

Entrance to Chinatown…the largest in the US

The Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory is a MUST DO!!!  We made our own and were treated to right out of the oven hot cookies!!!!! SOOOOOOO GOOOD!!!!

We took a boat cruise around the harbor and under the Gold Gate Bridge!!

We saw Alcatraz from all sides!

More views of the incredible Golden Gate!

The Fairmont Hotel is so grand…also a SF Landmark AND remember the TV show “HOTEL” which played immediately after Dynasty?  It was filmed here!!!

We went to one of the oldest diners in San Fran complete with the most amazing kitschy vintage decor…the milkshakes were the highlight!!!!

 Oh and so was Elvis!!!!
Lombard Street was a favorite…we drove down it TWICE with our tour guide!!

More gorgeous views!!!

Japan town was so beautiful and lucky us, we got to see some of the blooming Cherry Blossoms which lined the streets!!

The sea lions at the pier were fascinating!!!!!

Of course I have to show you the beautiful Flood Mansion, the Convent of the Sacred Heart school in San Fran.

Pacific Ocean Bluefin Tuna!!

The Coit Tower the highest point in SF!!  I was too chicken to climb to the top of the narrow tower!!!  Maybe next time!!!

The Tonga Room and Hurricane Bar in the Fairmont Hotel!  The band plays on the floating boat and it “rains” over the pool every 15 minutes!!  Sooo cool!!!

The amazing drinks at the Tonga Room!!

This was one of my favorite things we did…the original conveyor belt sushi restaurant, Isobune, in Japantown.  The Sushi Chef makes the sushi and he places it on small trays in wooden boats that float and rotate in front of you for your choosing.  INCREDIBLE!!!!!
