Book Club Monday

I have been waiting for this book to be published…The Expectations by Alexander Tilney.  I am going to let the summary speak for this page turning quick beach read….

St. James is an exclusive New England boarding school known for grooming generations of leaders. Ben Weeks is a true insider — his ancestors helped found St. James, his older brother taught him all the slang, and he’s just won a national championship in squash.

But after fourteen long years of waiting, Ben arrives at school only to find that the reality of St. James doesn’t quite match up with his imaginings. At the same time, his new roommate, Ahmed Al-Khaled, the son of a fabulously wealthy Emirati sheik, can’t navigate the unspoken rules of New England blue bloods. Even as Ben and Ahmed struggle to prove themselves in the place they have revered for so long, each of them must face losing it forever.

The Expectations is at once a finely drawn portrait of American privilege and a subtle exploration of class, race, and tradition. Above all, it is a tender, sharp, and evocative debut about the pain and treachery of adolescence, and the difficulty — wherever one finds oneself — of truly belonging. – Amazon.com

This Italian floor lamp is my absolute favorite…Sadly I borrowed this from Patdo but it is on my all time wish list…

Jagged Little Pill Broadway

Time to announce our November show…Jagged Little Pill!!!!  We have a block of tickets for Tuesday, November 19th at 8:00 pm in the mezzanine for $130 each…Email me to save your spot!!!

Inspired by the themes and emotions of Alanis Morissette’s Grammy Award-winning album, JAGGED LITTLE PILL is “a big-hearted musical that breaks the mold” (The New York Times), directed by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Waitress, Pippin), with an “urgent and wickedly funny” (The Boston Globe) book by Academy Award® winner Diablo Cody (Juno, Tully).
The Healys are a picture-perfect family — but looks can be deceiving. When the cracks beneath the surface begin to show, they must choose between maintaining the status quo or facing harsh truths about themselves, their community, and the world around them. Featuring Morissette’s iconic songs including “Ironic,” “You Oughta Know,” and “Hand In My Pocket,” plus brand-new songs written for the show, JAGGED LITTLE PILL comes to the stage with music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), and choreography by Olivier Award winner and frequent Beyoncé collaborator Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

Home Goods Re-Cap

I ran into Home Goods (the Port Chester location) tonight quickly with my son to grab a few things for his senior year (!!!!) college house….I think right now it is a very transitional time for the store.  They are trying to get rid of outdoor living and move into holiday…I did find a bunch of cute things…more odds and ends but now is the time to find them, esp since a ton of things were marked down….

These little mirrored chrome cocktail tables were perfect!!!

These copper and turquoise lanterns stopped me in my tracks!!!

They had so many decorative boxes.  I really liked this mother of pearl pair!!!

Now is the time to stock up for dorm rooms..there were so many containers, desk accessories, throw pillows, novelty string lights…its worth a look!!!

This rattan stool was calling me….I should have taken it home!!!

Such a great shape for this leather chair…

I was also tempted by these pagoda looking side tables!!!  Great prices BTW.

This linen bench with gold accents would be perfect in front of a fireplace or at the foot of a bed…
It was hard to pass up this blue and white garden stool and it was only $39!!!!

There were still a bunch of baskets for summer storage around the patio, cabana, pool house or even boat…

And finally I fell in LOVE with these Rachael Zoe feather lamps…
