Mother’s Day Gift Guide…The Small Business Edition

BeYOUnique has been a favorite of mine for years now…I love their designer inspired bags and totes..How cute are the clutches? Perfect for a stylish mom AND the new face-masks are fabulous!!!

Mongram Mary has the best monogram gifts around. I love her new concept..send in a handwritten message for mom and she will embroider it on a pillow or jewelry case!!!

Amanda Lindroth has the most beautiful accessories for the home. Her style is incredible. There are so many things on my wish list…Anything you pick from Amanda’s website will be just perfect for a style-savvy mom with an eye for design…

How great are the items from Wrap It Up for Mother’s Day? The chocolate pizza’s look divine…and the hand-painted potted flower pots (in collaboration with Artbybe11a and Perfect Petals by Ann) are the perfect thing to brighten up mom’s special day (all orders should be in by 5/6 for 5/10 delivery)!!!!! Also, don’t forget about their beautiful gift-wrapping service. Whatever you decide to get mom, they will come pick it up and wrap it fabulously!!

Another one of my all-time favorite small businesses is Ward Vintage jewelry. Over the years, I have purchased some of my favorite treasures from their incredible selection. Mom would swoon over any of their specially curated pieces!!!

A new find for me recently is Sue Sartor handmade tunics, kaftans, dresses and PJ’s. Sue made a pair of PJ’s for my daughter and her roommate at Georgetown. They were a gift from my daughter’s roommates mom. And, I was immediately hooked. Since then, I have purchased a few dresses and some fabulous accessories…Here I am trying on a pair of the most incredible earrings from Sue to show my mom. (sorry for the bad photo but the earrings are out of this world)…She is also now hooked, BTW!!! ANYTHING from the Sue Sartor collection will make mom very very happy this Mother’s Day!!! PS Next on my list is one of those fab floral numbers!!!

If mom does not own any of the gorgeous jewelry from Ilyses Pieces, then that is what she NEEDS!!! Ilyses designs every piece herself and the result is perfect. I am in love with those crystal bracelets made in France. They are really well priced and looked solo beautiful. Those are also on my wish list!!!!

I cannot get enough of Into The Woods handbags and accessories. Catherine just also introduced an incredible line of tabletop items. I love the “South Beach” and “Hamptons” bag and I am waiting to order my next one, the Miami.

Another new small business that I just found is Elysian by EM. Their collection of tote bags, mules, clutches and decorative pillows are simply fabulous. I feel in love with so many things…and so will Mom this Mother’s Day

Another amazing gift for mom is a monogram wrap from Elizabeth Chilla designs. Her embroidery is honestly a true work of art. She has so many colors, monogram fonts and designs to choose from. Her wraps are sure to be a true one of a kind gift from the heart!!!

Lastly, I LOVE the whimsical gifts from the local company Raynebow Designs. Their gift boxes for mom are the sweetest. You can add facemasks, bath bombs, personalized water bottles (the daily water intake measurement one is my fav), and really cute quarantine hats and T’s to your gift.

Staying At Home With Anthropologie

One thing I really miss about being in quarantine is browsing. Many days I would go about my errands around town and stop in Anthropologie or Zara (remember my run-in with Diana Ross a few months ago!!!!). I sometimes would visit my friend Lauren in Saks and she would show me some of the season’s showstoppers!!!!! I got great ideas for blog postings, both fashion steals and fashion splurges to pass onto you. Sadly now things have changed. I still love to browse but now I do it mostly on the web. One of the sites I go back to time and time again for inspiration is Anthropologie. Our Greenwich store is amazing and salespeople are so helpful so I really miss that but the online site is pretty good too. There are many great selections for clothing, beauty products and home accessories. I love their dried flower selection and I am dying for that Lily of the Valley Urn. They also have great specials every week, so keep checking. Last week I got a blouse that I had my eye on for over 1/2 off!!! I am obsessed with that Lily of the Valley in the urn planter and the pink palms and the rattan lantern….

It’s Time To Cheer Someone Up Today

Do you have a graduate in your life? Or a disappointed college student? This situation stinks, I have both in my house!!! And, I just keep telling them that this is temporary..We WILL get through this. I am sharing some fun items with you to spread some cheer to anyone who needs a little pick me up. Maybe they have a bday coming up, or you need a special graduation gift or just a little pick me up…my friend Andrea of Hipchik is so creative. Her items are so perfect for right now. I featured her college masks last week and the response was HUGE!!! Everyone loved them. Andrea also has some great college logo gifts AND some really fun quarantine items to make you laugh and looking cool. You can contact Andrea via text at 914-772-4474 for more information or to place an order. There is 10% off your purchase on her WEBSITE, if you share your email address.

Not Your Ordinary Face Mask

So as of 8:00 tonight, there is a new order….New Yorkers are required to wear a mask when going out in public. This is our new normal. But just because you have to wear a mask does not mean it cannot be a fun fashionable one. I actually found some really cute styles for you. I ended up ordering from all 3 for all my family members and also for a bunch of gifts. For better or worse, I have a feeling we will be wearing masks for a while. Bon Weekend!!!!!.

I fell in love with these one a kind designer logo masks from BeYounique. Each mask is $30. Jenn has many to choose from but since they are all unique, and made to order when one style is gone, it’s gone so ACT FAST….Email to Order yours!

Earlier this week, I ordered a Georgetown and Providence mask from Hipchik Home. .Pick your own school. Each mask is $25. EMAIL to order!

These cute preppy masks are made by Amy Bryant Designs. They come in both adult and children’s sizes and can be made with a filter pocket. Each adult mask is $12 with the filter pocket and $10 without. Choose your print by the number below and email to place your order!!!

Party Pajamas

OMG!!!! How fun are these Party Pajamas? Perfect for your glam nights on the zoom!!!! Unfortunately, I searched the web for them and they are pretty pricey…soooooooo…Who’s up for a DIY? I found THESE pajamas and many different colored BOAS. I used a GLUE GUN to attach the feathers to each of the sleeves and each pant leg. One boa was enough to do one pair of pajamas. The first photo is the pair that I finished over the weekend. I have seen people wear the top with jeans or the pants with a dressy flared sleeve black top or the top and bottoms together with cute heels to a wedding or Holiday party. When our quarantine is over, I am going to send mine out to have the feathers sewn on (but I’m sure a lot of you can do it yourself)!!! I just love this look!!!!!

Get A New Look for Under $30 and some great Zoom info!

Yesterday I received an email from a reader in Chicago. She said that she has a bunch of upcoming zoom conferences and social calls….and wanted some tips on something new to wear (that would be within her budget) and asked for some help on how she should set up her zoom “scene”. I partnered with Belk, a fun Florida Department store, to bring you some under $30 fashion finds. Their signature brands are really great looking and take a queue from some of the more expensive lines…I love the striped sweater highlighted below, it reminds me of the NY popular fashion brand La Ligne. I also included a few pairs of statement earrings. They are a must since earrings really pop in a video conference. Right now most items are 35% off with the code AMAZINGSAVINGS. As for creating the Zoom scene, I found a few tips for you! Please keep the emails and messages coming. I am trying to cover a lot of fun topics to keep everyone entertained for the next many weeks and I love all the interesting questions, and requests that you send to me!!!! Bon Weekend!!!

Here are some tips for elevating your Zoom background or “scene” as I like to call it!!!

Set up your computer in front of the window so your face gets natural light, which is the most flattering type of light.”

You can improve your appearance and look airbrushed. Just click the “enhance my appearance” button under video options.

Use laptops/computers over phone/tablets. It allows for better control of viewing and accessing chat features.

Mute mics and only unmute when you are speaking; it eliminates some of the screen jumping that is triggered by sound/noise.

Surround yourself with things that inspire you: a decorative piece, a Himalayan salt lamp, or burn a candle.

Place Lamps At Both Sides Of Your Desk, if you are seated at a desk.

Clean your space. Do not show clutter. Think about your background. A nice piece of artwork or your fireplace and mantle would work nicely. Basically something interesting to look at.

Add a decorative object to the background, like a vase of flowers.

A book shelf makes for an interesting and eye catching backdrop.

Have nice accessories, a pretty mug (my friend, Melissa, used these recently) or glass. Use a decorative pen or notebook, if you need one during the meeting.
