Kimberly Akimbo on Broadway

Our next show is going to be Kimberly Akimbo on Broadway on June 6th. It is nominated for 8 Tony awards.

Kim is a wonderful, charming New Jersey teen who just happens to look like a 72-year-old woman. Kim suffers from a disease that causes her body to age nearly five times faster than most. Yet somehow, that might be the least of her problems. Kim’s family is collapsing as long-held secrets come out, and they’re caught in moneymaking schemes which might put them in jail. With the help of her only friend, a teenage boy, can Kim figure it all out?

Kimberly Akimbo began as a play, written by Lindsay-Abaire and was first produced at South Coast Repertory in 2001. The play was later produced in New York by Manhattan Theatre Club in 2003, earning rave reviews, particularly for its star Marylouise Burke. (Older actors play Kim, rather than young actors made up to look like older women.) Lindsay-Abaire is a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, also known for works such as Rabbit Hole and Good People

For the Kimberly Akimbo musical adaptation, Lindsay-Abaire has teamed up with Jeanine Tesori, a Tony Award winner for Fun Home and one of the most celebrated musical theatre composers of her generation.

We have a block of tickets reserved in the orchestra for $140 for June 6th at 7:00. Email me to save your spot!

31st State The Only Answer For Your Teenager’s Skin

download 3 1

Teen age skin can really be a challenge and there is really not a great selection of products on the market specifically for teenagers or more specifically teenage BOYS. 31st State was created for teenagers. All products are nature-derived great smelling products. The collection contains Natural + vegan + planet-friendly essentials for skin, hair, and body.

Inspired by the abundant sunshine, beaches, deserts, and forests of California, life in the 31st State feels a little more grounded and a lot less complicated. It is the answer for teenage acne and breakouts.

When her teenage sons started having skin problems, Stephanie Capuano did what moms do, she googled ‘teenage skin care.’  After some disappointing results, she asked her friends for advice and it turned out they were just as lost as she was. After searching endlessly in pharmacies and retailers in the UK and the US, she was frustrated that there was genuinely nothing on the market that worked well enough for them, was stylish, aspirational, and importantly, wasn’t elbow-deep in unnecessary chemicals. Inspired by what it felt like growing up in California (the 31st State), she created a brand devoted to boys in all their glory, which feels more current for Gen Z  and the next-gen of teen boys,  and is inspired by the idea of simple, effortless, California clean. The 31st State is a place but also a way of doing things – a geography and a philosophy in one.  A philosophy wherein we all ‘untry harder’.

How much can a family forgive?

Francis Gleeson and Brian Stanhope, rookie NYPD cops, are neighbors in the suburbs. What happens behind closed doors in both houses – the loneliness of Francis’s wife, Lena, and the instability of Brian’s wife, Anne, sets the stage for the explosive events to come.

In Mary Beth Keane’s extraordinary novel, a lifelong friendship and love blossoms between Kate Gleeson and Peter Stanhope, born six months apart. One shocking night their loyalties are divided, and their bond will be tested again and again over the next 30 years. Heartbreaking and redemptive, Ask Again, Yes is a gorgeous and generous portrait of the daily intimacies of marriage and the power of forgiveness. – Amazon.com

How do you determine a client’s personal style?

I sit down with each client and get to know their personality, lifestyle, needs, and wants. That combined with their body type and proportions shapes their style.

Where would you search for clothes?

Boutiques, showrooms, department stores, retail chains, and online retailers

How would you source rare items?

I would utilize international websites as well as vintage stores/sites

What would you do if a client insisted on purchasing an ill-fitting item?

Advise against it and offer other options but at the end of the day its the clients choice to wear what they feel best in

Which current trends would you incorporate into your clothing selections?

If I’m pulling for a client it’s not about trends, we try to focus on building a capsule collection with quality closet staples first and then layering in a few fun pieces according to their wish list.

Are there any designers that are your go-to?

Mostly designers with classic  tailored pieces, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Dior, Carolina Herrera
