Besides the glamour and excitment of the runway shows, Fashion Week is all about the New York scene, which is why I try to go beyond the gliz of the haute couture to bring you some new New York in-things and happenings. This week we tried The Dutch, the American cuisine hot spot of the James Beard award winning chef, Andrew Carmellini in Soho. The scene was cool and happening. The food really was amazing. The Maitre d’ brought us a wonderful tuna tartare appitizer to try. Everything was so good from the salads and oysters to the pastas and the steak. There were many truffle items on the menu (our favorite) which were outstanding. The next time you are in New York you have to stop by The Dutch.
In keeping with the spirit of Fashion Week, I thought I would show you Tommy Hillifiger’s 80 Million dollar penthouse that recently came on the market. The fashion icon’s home is in the historic Plaza Hotel and if it sells for the asking price, it will be the second most expensive condo to ever sell in New York City. I am ready to move right in…how about you???? Bon Weekend
Yesterday, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Malan Breton Fall/Winter 2016 fashion show. Malan Breton is very talanted Taiwanese born, American fashion designer, based right here in New York City. His impressive resume spans from Model, to Stylist, to Fashion Columlnist to Talk Show Host to finally Brillant Designer. His clothes are worshiped by socialites and celebrities alike, as well as being featured on America’s Next Top Model. The show was so well attended. The clothes were truly gorgeous. There were so many rich jeweled tones with just the perfect statment accessories. Both mens and women’s wear were icorporated so amazingly. It certainly was a day to remember!!!
Last night I kicked off Fashion Week at The Laundress’ Flagship store in Soho. My dear friend Lucy Sykes was doing a reading from her amazing book The Knockoff. It was such a great night. If you do not know the The Laundress, it is the company of two college friends Gwen and Lindsey who wanted to bring back the art of doing laurndry. Their goal was to elmiate dry cleaning from their routine and they created the best, “speciality formulated, eco- friendy and luxurously scented laundry solutions”. I could not help myself, I wanted to try everything in the store. Lindsey and Gwen so graciously agreed to be interviewed on my radio show, so stay tuned. As for Lucy, she wowed the crowd as usual. Her reading was supurb and as always, her style on fleek!!! Thank you Lucy, Lindsey and Gwen for hosting an incredible evening!!!
