Book Club Monday

So I have been receiving tons of requests for a “thriller”….I guess we are over beach reads for now..I found a great one for you…..Two Sisters, by Kerry Wilkinson.  This is supposed to be a psychological thriller with a shocking twist!!!!!  Perfect for all you literary thrill seekers!!!!  The story goes like this:

They told us he had been missing for nearly two days, that he probably drowned. They told us a lie.
Megan was ten years old when her older brother, Zac, went missing among the cliffs, caves and beaches that surround the small seaside town of Whitecliff.
A decade later and a car crash has claimed the lives of her parents.
Megan and her younger sister Chloe return to Whitecliff one summer for the first time since their brother’s disappearance. Megan says it’s to get her parents’ affairs in order. There are boxes to pack, junk to clear, a rundown cottage to sell. But that’s not the real reason.
Megan has come to confront her family’s past after receiving a postcard on the day of her parents’ funeral. It had a photograph of Whitecliff on the front and a single letter on the back.
‘Z’ is all it read.

Hamptons Re-Cap

Here are the highlights from this year’s Southampton summer trip.  I wish I was spending more time Out East this summer but I am going to spend the rest of August with my parents, which is the best gift I could truly ask for.  However, we did jam in so much in the time we were in Southampton.  The greatest part was that we were with our cousins and enjoyed everything together, endless beach hours, gourmet ice coffees, boat rides around Sag, incredible sunset dinners, the list goes on and on.  We are already planning next year’s trip, it was that AWESOME!!!!

Cheesy Zucchini Parmigiana

This recipe is incredible….if you are looking to try a yummy healthy alternative to chicken parm or even lasagna, this is for you.  I swear you are going to want to eat the entire tray!!!  Bon Appetit!!!

(adapted from Food.com)

Ingredients
  • 4 medium zucchini – cut longwise into even ⅓ inch planks, about 4 per zucchini
  • 1 jar pasta sauce
  • 2 cups finely shredded Sargento Six Cheese Italian blend – or mozzarella is good too!
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan or Domestic Romano cheese

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spread ½ cup pasta sauce in bottom of a 8 x 8 square or 8 x 10 oblong baking dish. Layer zucchini, sauce, ⅓ of each of the cheeses and repeat for 3 or 4 layers ending with cheese.
  3. Cover with non-stick foil or foil sprayed with non-stick vegetable spray.
  4. Bake 50 to 60 minutes until bubbling and soft, remove foil and bake additional 10 minutes until cheese is browned and crusted.
  5. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.

Wicker Furniture

This is one of my favorite posts all summer!!!!!   Last month my uber talented friend Stephanie had a gorgeous bday party under the most spectacular tent!!!  On one side was this incredible wicker seating (see below).  I became obsessed with everything wicker.  And, not your mother’s white wicker either…the most gorgeous natural colored vintage rattan style.  Once I was on the hunt, it began popping up everywhere.  I still need to take the plunge but I am closer to owning a chic piece of my own!!!!

Can you believe this is from Target….I am in LOVE
