The Easiest Key Lime Pie

I am always looking for an easy never fail impressive recipe to bring to friend’s houses or picnic night in the summer.  I usually spend much of August in the Hamptons.  Most nights we visit family and friends for dinner.  I run out of ideas of items to bring to dinner parties.  My friend Christine sent me this Key Lime Pie recipe and it is brilliant.  I made it all last week and have a few ready to go for next week and so far it has been a home run.  You have to try it out for yourself!!!  Happy baking!!!!

Rosemary and Vine

A new restaurant opened on Purchase St in Rye, NY, Rosemary and Vine, and we were invited to try a tasting menu.  The cuisine is a savory vegetarian Mediterranean, while also offering a nice wine and beer selection.  The food is fabulous.   Each dish was better than the rest.  We loved the Gazpacho Blanco, made with cucumbers, grapes and mint.  The family recipe for Hummus is one of the best we had and the 5 cheese mushroom lasagna was out of this world, just to name a few of our favorites.  The founders, Berj and Tania could not have been more attentive or hospitable.   But don’t take our word for it, Rosemary and Vine was recently mentioned in Vogue as a must stop this summer in Rye.  For more information to view the complete menu, click HERE.

Book Club Monday

We are officially 2 weeks away from sending our oldest child, our son off to his first year of college.  No more denial.  It is here.  So every day as boxes arrive with bedding, first aid kits and closet and school supplies, I found myself ordering him the book, 1001 Things Every College Student Needs to Know by Harry Harrison.  I actually wish I had bought it sooner.  There are some great tips in there and it’s a fun read for a high school Junior or Senior as well as any age college student.   Mr. Harrison is a well-known New York Times bestselling author and his books on parenting are highly regarded.  Here are some of his words of wisdom to students in and preparing for college:

Students entering college may think they know just about everything, but…
Whether it’s their first year or fourth, college students (who think they already know everything) can always use powerful and proven tips on how to make the most of their experience. In 1001 Things Every College Student Needs to Know,Harry H. Harrison Jr.’s latest dose of trademark wit and wisdom provides practical advice ranging from class enrollment, living on campus, study habits and more, that every student-and parent-will benefit from…like buying their books before exams start!
