Happy Pi Day

Today to celebrate π day my daughter and her friends made a Hershey Pie.  This pie has become a tradition in our house.  Years ago, when we first moved in, there was a huge hurricane in the Westchester area.  Many houses were flooded and lost electricity.   My good friend came over with all the ingredients and we made this Hershey Pie for the upcoming π day at school.  We had the best time and it was such a fun day among the chaos of the weather around us.  We also made this for a pie contest and it came in 2nd place two years in a row!!!!!!   ENJOY!!

Ingredients:

6 regular sized Hersey Milk Chocolate Bars
1 tub Cool Whip (thawed)
1 Oreo Pie Crust
Hershey Kisses to decorate

Instructions:
1. Melt 5 of your Hershey Bars either in the microwave or in a double boiler. (set aside the other bar)
2. Add all the Cool Whip and stir until completely combined.
3. Pour the mixture into the piecrust.
4. Decorate your pie with the Kisses and Chocolate Bar shavings from the leftover bar.
5. Refrigerate the pie for at least and hour and serve cold.

Thank Heaven for Mrs. Mullen.  First she brought us meatballs in the crock pot and now her famous (it has been published!) Irish Soda Bread recipe, just in time for St. Patrick’s day.  Enjoy!!!!

Bed Side Flowers

A very easy way to cheer up your space is to keep a small bouquet on your bed side table.  It does not have to be an elaborate display just a few blooms, maybe even from your garden.  It makes such a difference to wake up next to fresh flowers.  It’s so cheery and the smell is wonderful.  Here are some simple yet beautiful arrangements.  Give it a try…….

Jack Rogers

Who does not love a pair of Jack Rogers sandals?  This year, the company is celebrating its 55th anniversary.  For 55 years women have been fans of this iconic sandal.  One of the company’s loyalist clients was none other that Jackie O herself.  She purchased her first pair in Capri in the 1960s.  She returned with the shoe to Palm Beach and had a local cobbler copy the design.. Viola Jack Rogers was born!!  I LOVE Jack Rogers.  I began wearing them a life time ago, when they were only available in Palm Beach.  My family traveled to Florida throughout the year and we spent Thanksgiving at the Breakers.  After the HUGE Thanksgiving feast we would walk around the gorgeous Breakers and the only store that was opened was an expensive Italian shoe store.  Low and behold, there in that shop were the coveted Jack Rogers sandals.  My grandfather insisted that we buy a pair to take home.  So that became our tradition, we would enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner at the Breakers and go sandal shopping afterwards!!!  This went on for quite a few years and WE LOVED IT!!!  There are going to be some very special 55th anniversary styles available after April 1st HERE.
