2020’s current events are leading all of us to have a lot more quality home time on our hands and increased opportunities to spend more tech time each day, whether it be Binge Watching, making Tic Toc videos, Zooming or playing video games. It makes sense to improve the space in which you do those things. We’re going to talk about some of the most important things to get right as you look to improve an entertainment area in your home.
Sort Out Cable Organization and General Storage
Firstly, you should take a look at your cables and see how much of a mess they’re in. Most gaming rooms or tech-heavy rooms have big cable management problems, but they can be overcome. Everything looks so much tidier and cleaner when your cables are properly managed and tucked away and separated from one another. So make that happen, and the same goes for your general storage. Make sure everything has its own place. THIS or THIS can greatly help improve your cable management quickly and easily.
Decorate it Creatively
Getting creative with a fresh approach to decor might be something that’s worth looking into and experimenting with a little more too. Whether you want to decorate with mid-century modern furniture, iconic vintage game images, or simply add some new color to the walls.
Get the Lighting Right
The lighting is something that’s definitely worth thinking about when it comes to the quality of the space. When you’re watching a movie or gaming, you want the atmosphere to be just right, and that will be possible when you have good LED lights in place. This Installation guide of LED strip lights is an easy quick fix to make this change in your entertainment room.
Invest in a Great Desk and Chair
Nothing matters more than the furniture you have in your space when it comes to comfort and relaxation. I’m sure you want to be able to sit back and relax, but that will only be possible if you invest in the right DESK and a supportive CHAIR . Or get SOMETHING really comfortable and out of the box to sit on!
Use the Best Speakers You Can Afford
Finally, you should think about the audio. Having great SPEAKERS is vital because they will deliver a booming and all-encompassing sound that will help you to feel fully immersed in your game. At the same time, if this is a family home, you might want to also think about soundproofing the walls so you don’t end up disturbing other people with the noise.
If you’re looking to get more out of your entertainment room, these are the ideas that’ll help you to do just that. All the more now, we all need a space dedicated to the things we love and if for you that means watching Net-Flix, gaming, or other tech-related activities, it pays off to put some effort into refining that space.
A new decade always brings with it a new set of trends. Trends change every few years, even every few months – but you can expect to see some huge changes now that we’ve reached the start of the 2020s!
If you’re looking for a great way to update your home decor, look no further. Here, you’ll find some home decor trends for inspiration that are really taking off this year!
Traditional Detailing
Although this is all about the trends taking off in 2020, it’s not all modern and futuristic. Many people are opting for lavish-looking traditional detailing, meaning things like spooled legs, spindles, and things we saw in furnishings from the 1800s and early 1900s. These things can actually be included properly with the help of residential architects, who will be able to make adjustments to your home that will add real value. Surprisingly, these changes do stand the test of time and they can still look great with modern pieces.
Bold Floral Wallpaper
You may be thinking ‘floral wallpaper? How original!’ however, floral wallpaper is a lot more exciting now than it used to be. Look for florals in bright colors, and even those with metallic accents. It’s certainly not boring anymore!
Subtle Plants
A lot of people love owning lots of different plants and having them all over the home. This is a wonderful way to bring the outdoors inside, but it can be a little overwhelming for those who are not so green-thumbed. If you can look after 20 different plants at once, then great, but it’s not always the smartest or most cost/time effective move.
Bringing in a single olive tree is a lot more subtle – it’ll bring in a nice, calming shade of green rather than lots of shades of a brighter green. The olive tree is sophisticated and can suit just about any home, too. All homes should have some form of greenery, but it doesn’t have to be in your face.
High Contrast Decor
Who doesn’t love the way contrasting colors pop? This doesn’t just mean black and white (which is classed as monochrome anyway). This means, for example, a black and white geometric pattern on your floor or walls, finished off nicely with a bright color to really make everything stand out, perhaps in the form of a sofa or rug. Using a color wheel will help you to see which colors you like best for contrast, and you can really get creative with it!
Color Pop Cabinets
Not only are people painting their front doors bright colors for instant curb appeal, but they’re also painting their cabinets bright colors, too! Choosing to paint your base cabinets in a daring color might seem out there, but it can bring a lovely cheery vibe to any interior and should suitably brighten your day. It doesn’t even have to be a super bright color like hot pink. A color like navy can look amazing, too!
Which of these 2020 trends do you love?
I have noticed a trend lately……Front Doors painted in unexpected colors. A bright colored front door gives your home instant curb appeal. This design concept is very popular in Charleston and Palm Springs but has been recently popping up in neighborhoods all over the US. With people spending time home more these days, a front door makeover is an easy quick, relatively inexpensive one to do with a HUGE impact.
If you are going to undertake this project, start with samples and really see the color in all elements of natural light, throughout the day.
Buy the proper outdoor paint so your door will not peel or fade….latex exterior seems to work well. Your paint store can help you choose. Also, High Gloss is nice but it will show every blemish in the door so you might opt for Semi High Gloss, which is more forgiving.
White trim seems to work the best but you can choose a contrasting color like the grey used below. And lastly, do not forget the accessories…the jewelry for the door. An interesting door knocker or door handle with a new finish (matte black seems to be all the rage these days) will do just the trick to finish off your new project perfectly.
I cannot tell you how many times I hear “no one wants silver anymore”. It’s a pain to polish. It is a pain to polish but it looks so good when its all shiny and out on display. So many people have random silver pieces tucked away. Well, today is your rainy day. Get out that silver. You are home with hours to pass. Start cleaning and find a new purpose for Grandma’s or mom’s heirloom…Here are some really great ideas for making your old silver look new again, all around the house. Don’t forget…send me your photos…..I’d love to share them!!!!
PS…here is the best tip for polishing silver…….
Tarnished silver is no match for this aluminum foil “recipe.” Bring one liter of water, one tablespoon of baking soda, and one piece of aluminum foil to a boil. Drop silverware in the pot for 10 seconds (longer if it’s very tarnished), then remove using kitchen tongs. Magic!
I did not know how popular the Forsysia post would be. After reading it, many of you were out there cutting and displaying them in your gorgeous homes!! I especially love the photos from those who did not have Forsythia in their yards but wanted to participate anyway!!!!! As promised, I am sharing all the wonderful photos….Thank you to my amazing readership for keeping me going every day with your incredible enthusiasm and support…we really are stronger together!!!!
WOW….is my house feeling really bare…I usually pick up flowers and try to spruce up things around here from week to week..There really is nothing like fresh flowers around to keep your spirits up!! Even the $9.99 grocery store variety does the trick. I was walking the other day and noticed that there are so many beautiful and bright forsythia bushes popping up all over. I went home, grabbed my clippers and cut a few branches…I put them in a tall vase on my kitchen counter and Voila…What a difference!!!!! After almost a week, they are really holding up…Then I saw my uber-talented friend Stephanie post a photo of the ones she cut and arranged on her dining room table…andddddd a post was born. How fabulous do these simple arrangements look?
